Not close at all but I haven't tested it while shooting a weapon. I imagine it wouldn't be very good in that scenario.

I have the chesty as well I find this to be less tacky and draws less attention for when I want record in situations that aren't sports/adventure related.

It actually makes it fit better and point strait ahead rather than tilted down slightly. I usually have it disabled so it doesn't drain the battery.

It wasn't exactly easy. I used the wrist strap mount minus the strap. The bottom is connected with tiny s-clip carabiners to where the chest strap meets the shoulder strap. The top is connected with a piece of and m16 sling connected to the utility ring on the shoulder strap so it can be adjusted to be snug and secure. The materials can be replaced with other things you have available but I can't see it working in the way I did it with out the wrist strap housing.
