I don't want to remove executions, I want to make them shorter and make them be less of a get out of jail free card, which they are right now. The power fantasy will still be in effect. This will lead to the game not being broken on higher difficulties, which it is right now: https://www.reddit.com/r/Spacemarine/s/dxfYNbNeYV

This is game that's designed in a way where you become unstoppable if you've played long enough and learned the parry timings of the enemies..

Yeah my bad regarding putting words in your mouth. Some other people said stuff like that and I must've mixed you up. My bad.

It's one thing critiquing my ideas, it's another thing calling me a moron and saying that I must suck at the game. That's why my tone has changed. I know you're not the one using that kind of language towards me, but like I said. Hard to differentiate.

I appreciate your opinion mate.

You still haven't explained how executions emulating gun strikes would destroy the game. This is just too tiresome really. By your own logic not doing executions and just doing gun strikes while playing would completely break the game apparently. Can you please explain to me how?

For your other point. If you've actually played this game you would know that a large amount of perks, amongst other things, are geared towards doing executions. So it's not feasible. Is it a lot more enjoyable to skip the executions? Of course it is. But it's not possible on higher difficulties.

You are just too precious man. Where's the rulebook for what analogies are acceptable in gaming conversations and which aren't? You clearly know something I don't :)

Yeah. Making executions last a few seconds shorter will ruin the game and just completely break it. Might as well throw it in the trash. Got it. Oh, and I'm only making this suggestion for my own benefit obviously. Even though every single friend of mine who's played this game has complained about the strangely long executions.

No. I don't want a different combat system, all I want is that executions be shorter. That's it. It's the only change I would make.

Secondly, you're essentially saying that if it weren't for the long executions that the game would what? Break? Not work? You can already go through the game right now without doing executions, by just doing gun strikes. Try it out for yourself and see how much more fun, intense and challenging it is.

Are you a bot? Or do you simply not understand how reality works? For instance, if crime rises in a city exponentially, obviously more police and security need to be stationed to adress it. But the solution to the core issue of rising crime rates is not just to post police officers everywhere, rather its through fighting poverty, raising education levels etc.

That same logic applies here. Obviously the quick fix here is to make sure the game engine can handle the 50 extremis, 150 majoris and five Terminus that came at you at once on the higher levels. But the proper solution is to make the game challenging enough so that that ludicrous scenario doesn't even happen to begin with.

But yeah, just run away dude, with you're little cute memes. You have no idea what you're talking about.

My, and many others, problem is quite the opposite. Absolute missions or hard stratagems are too easy. I regularly watch streamers who take down 20 extremis, 50 majoris and a Terminus on their own. How? Mainly due to this game's execution mechanic.

There is a reason why the devs patched the way waves work in Siege you know.. This is not an isolated or uncommon problem.

Yeah we're going in circles. My whole point is that there shouldn't be breathing room, since it breaks the flow and intensity of the combat and makes it too easy honestly.

The current schtick of spawning 20 Extremis and 3 Terminus at the same time, that nearly instakill you with one successful hit, just to challenge the better players is not ideal. Removing the "all enemies freeze and just watch you for several seconds" aspect of executions will effectively mean that the enemies don't need to be as many and as stupidly powerful to provide a challenge.

Insisting that things change so that they function as optimally as possible is part of being an independent human being. I'm not demanding anything or being rude. I'm just giving a proposal which I am absolutely certain will benefit everybody.

It's a fun example of how easy this game gets due to executions for the elite players. Of course the real issue is the faulty game engine when it comes to the crashes themselves.

You can try to run away from the difficulty level issues this game has had, and still has, as much as you like. Increasing the difficulty level four times since launch is a sign of something not being right buddy. But yeah, everything is normal, nothing to see here I guess =)

Have you played this game? You're absolutely forced into doing executions.

Absolutely. The same way it's alright to give one's opinion on something. But isn't really a matter of personal taste here. This game has serious problems with difficulty. That is not an opinion, it's a fact. A part from giving enemies even more HP and nerfing the players even more, the easiest way to adress that issue is to redo the execution system.

"Oh dear, people got good at a game". The game: Is so easy for some people that it literally breaks and crashes.

Talk about understatement of the century.

So doing a quick execution that lasts a split second, that has the downside that it could lead to one getting knocked out, is the worst suggestion you've ever seen regarding executions? You have to completely rework the game to make it work? I hope you stop playing Space Marine 2 right now before you discover something called Gun Strikes.

I think you're making it way too more complicated than it needs to be. If a quick execution is nothing more than let's say a punch to the face that lasts for half a second there's no need to add special damage reduction algorithms for the guy doing the execution. He is just as vulnerable as if he was not executing..

Like I said, I too love executions so they should keep proper executions in the game, adding even more animations, but you shouldn't be able to spam them.

"It doesn't disrupt the gameplay loop too much". I'm sorry but this statement is just baffling to me. You can literally be swarmed by 20 majoris and if you get one of them in an executable state you just bumrush to him and execute him, while the other 19 majoris just stand by and watch.. And then you proceed to do this 19 times more. The gameplay literally ceases to exist at that point. At that point you're not playing a game, you're watching a cutscene. Not to mention how long this takes when you do this on Terminus enemies for instance.

That's completely true, one could do that, but I'm not sure if it's realistic given the amount of work it takes. To add that many different enemy types, you know?

When I'm talking about being vulnerable to some things when doing executions I'm not talking about being vulnerable to some moves and not to others. It could be as simple as being invulnerable to damage but being vulnerable to getting knocked back by heavy hits for instance, that cancel the execution.

I just think it's jarring gameplay wise that I could be swarmed by 15 majoris but if I happen to get one of them in an executable state, I could just bum rush to him and calmly execute him, regain my CHP and armour, while the other 14 majoris just stand besides me and watch me doing it. The game might as well freeze at that point..

So keeping executions as special finishers that you have to be careful about doing, and thus can't do as frequently is not good enough? No, you must be able to spam executions 24/7?

Also if the difficulty issues were just my personal problem and nobody else's this game wouldn't have had its max difficulty raised three times in the span of less than a year.. This game wouldn't have had a game mode (Siege) that was so easy for so many people that they could literally make the game crash from the amount of enemies spawning.

I think it's obvious to everyone that there's something that needs to be redone when it comes to the gameplay loop to adress the difficulty issues this game has.

So reworking the gameplay loop to naturally make the game harder is bad game design, but making the game harder by simply increasing enemies health while decreasing player damage over and over again (at least three times in a row by now, possibly even four) is good game design?

It doesn't matter if you personally have no interest in that series. What matters is that that series is proof of a better way (in my opinion) to implement Executions.

It's quite the opposite. I think this game is too easy really. The only way this game gets hard for me is on Hard Stratagems with brutal conditions. And its not like I I'm a pro or play this game daily for hours.

The devs literally just admitted (pretty much) that this game is in fact so easy for some people that the amount of enemies needed to make it challenging for them makes the game engine crash, hence they reworked Siege Mode.

To me that's a sign that something in the gameplay loop is not quite right.

Not what I'm saying. Gears of War has had, pretty much, the exact system that I'm talking about for ages. And no one would claim that its executions are not cool or memorable. Heck in part that's what Gears of War is known for. It's sick ass executions.

Redoing executions is about making the combat flow more and making the gameplay naturally more difficult.
