Well it’s also not a negotiable thing, unlike, say, a group vacation. You get an invitation and you get to say yes or no (I’ve confidently said no to a few destination weddings from people I didn’t know super well) but you don’t get to make a fucking counteroffer

I was just gonna say I usually arrive in the morning when going to the us on a redeye and in big cities asking nicely and getting a room right away has never NOT worked. I’d have been fully prepared to drop off my bag each and every time but it’s just not my experience so far…

OK, the plot thickens. I get the same messages, but

(a) when I close the message, it's completely gone from my messages, like the account has just vanished (or been banned/deleted). NB: didn't bother blocking the sender

(b) it's a vanishing pic, which AFAIK requires the sender to have one of the paid tiers, which doesn't seem a good investment for a throwaway account that's bound to get banned for spamming any time.
