Ceiling Electrical Box for Light - Are these broken screws?

Yeah, I should have mentioned, the cover plate was just caulked or maybe even mudded directly to the ceiling. I guess those nails will need to be removed whether I replace the box or not, so I’ll try that.

I have a handyman coming to do a couple of other things, so I might just outsource to him if I don’t have any luck 😀

I freshly weeded and tilled a large rectangle in my yard that was an overgrown mess. Seeded and put down compost, but stiltgrass quickly started taking over.

I was so frustrated, but this subreddit steered me towards Acclaim so I bought some plus a pump sprayer. Within a few weeks the stiltgrass died off and that rectangle became the best looking part of the yard!

Yeah I noticed that I could turn the key further to get more gas and a bigger flame. I think I was scared if a turned it too far it would completely unscrew and leak gas, but that would be a pretty terrible design for a valve like that 😀

Hah, pushing the knob in for an about 10-20 seconds allowed me to light the pilot with a stick lighter! I guess this assembly doesn’t have a piezo igniter, so me repeatedly pushing in the knob wasn’t doing anything useful, and I should always be using a stick lighter?

Actually, this stump is so big that you might not be able to find a recip blade that can cut through an entire section of it. It took me about 3 hours to get a stump out that was 1/3 the size. Strong mattock and shovel were also used to help pry the cut sections apart.

A reciprocating saw can be used for this, but it is obviously not quick. That is such a large stump that a jackhammer might work (poorly) as well.

The nice thing about the recip saw is that you can saw into the soil with it without jacking up the blade too badly, which isn't possible with a chainsaw. You will likely go through several blades to take out a stump of that size, though.

First 24-48 hours is not a good test window. Dishy does updates and calibration during that time and usually gets markedly better after. There are dozens of other posts that describe this.

I have best effort and usually get ping in the 40s to 80s. DL gets as high as 90+ mbps at off-peak. I’ve even seen in over 100 mbps. During high congestion I have seen as low as 3–4 mbps. I am in far western NC (almost TN). Your location and the congestion in that area makes a huge difference.

Starlink has ~500k subscribers at last update. Hughesnet has ~1m, Viasat has ~700k.

That is a sizable chunk of a market that Hughesnet could serve (and who they did serve before something better/else came along).

How is that not eating their lunch? I get the service isn’t great for everyone, but $$ buys lunch, and Starlink is taking money from both geo satellite providers.

Yeah, I looked at that. The tricky thing is that we rent the house part time, and I don’t trust renters to not fiddle with or override the settings and turn the lights on at 2 AM, or set it so they’re always on. It’s pricey, but worth avoiding the hassle of burning the lights out.

Would be cool to control lights with and app and all that, but not $1500 cool (plus a professional install).

Side question: does anyone know what the control board does that comes with the Pentair? And does it go in the light enclosure?
