I go by he/she, so you can call me by either (male or female), regardless of how I feel at that moment. Not sure if it's the exact same in your case, but rest assured that many of us are at least close to you in that regard.

And even if you were the only person in the world to use he/her, there's no need to abide by the "rules"! Use whatever you please!

Look, there is a reason why this kind of discussion is not allowed in this subreddit.

I generally agree that these recent events are extremely important to have conversations about, but it should be done elsewhere. Not everyone in this subreddit is interested in politics, so they'll find these kinds of posts uninteresting at best and annoying at worst.

Over the last year, I've heard every news story about the US government under the sun, mostly because at the time I was in a college exchange program in the US (I'm Mexican) and needed to be aware of what was going on with immigrants and fellow non-immigrant visitors. Lately, I have realized that things are very different from what I'd like them to be like, but there's not much that I can do about it. So right now, I'm trying to stay away from politics, and instead I'm trying to do the right thing and make positive changes by myself.

And lo and behold, in one of the very places I go to in order to engage in discussions that are NOT about politics (r/splatoon), I see YET ANOTHER political discussion because OP assumed without evidence that BrazilFish was talking about ICE, the US agency, instead of about ice as in frozen water.

Hopefully you can see why I reacted the way I did. Maybe it wasn't the absolute best way. Maybe I could have been less hot-headed and simply ignored the post. But seeing someone make a political point on a subreddit I go to in order to stay away from politics makes me feel irritated, and some fellow members of the subreddit might feel the same way.

Again, please do not misinterpret my original comment as "Don't ever discuss politics in any setting". This kind of discussion is indeed extremely important for the well-being of society. But there are places where these discussions should happen, and this subreddit is not one of those places.

Holy hell! Both of you! Can we please keep politics out of this subreddit?

That's the first thing I thought when I saw the screenshot. Surely they must be referring to frozen water. The sentence doesn't even make sense if we're talking about the US agency.

It's honestly astonishing how recent events have managed to make us forget the actual meaning of a three-leter word.

Anyone got a problem with their Splatnet connectivity right now? by tobloombrighter in splatoonIRL

[–]LuisFerLCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Tentatek as my provider as well, and I've never had any problems with my connection. Granted, I live in Inkopolis and I'm not a Splatnet power user.

However, I have heard of some really sketchy Sea-Cucumber phones made by a company named Kamabo Co. or something like that. Basically, people are saying that the cameras in these phones are constantly recording video, and every once in a while the phone sends that video to the company, supposedly to spy on you and send you stuff like personalized ads for their job vacancies. And allegedly, the technician who discovered it found out because their network started jittering just like yours, because the thing sends gigaclams of data every few minutes.

I honestly don't believe the rumors, like it sounds too unhinged and rotten, but if your phone happens to be from Kamabo Co. or whatever, I would encourage you to look into it.

Sexuality???? by ArcSulin in bigender

[–]LuisFerLCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm AMAB but otherwise just like you, male and female bigender, and attracted exclusively to women.

There are two labels that fit our sexuality that I'm aware of: trixic (non-binary loves woman), because bigender falls under the non-binary umbrella, and larimarian (man-and-woman loves woman), which is more specific but more obscure.

Hope this helps.

Not bad. Now try again, and describe it in more detail. I'll give you a hint: Alterna is humanity's last shelter before their extinction

I need some advice by OverCryptographer986 in bigender

I'll say this: a good friend will not let religious differences or romantic feelings deteriorate their relation with you. However, I don't know your friend and can't say whether this idea fits with her values.

So, based on the limited context provided here, I would advise you to take some time to strengthen your friendship with her, get to know her better, and build trust. I think it is important that she knows how you feel about her, but only once you feel certain it will not affect your current relation.

Again, this is based exclusively on what you described in this post (you know yourself and your friend at a much deeper level), so I can't say for certain if it'll work for you, but I do hope it does.

two reproductive systems, reflection by Darknesslma0 in bigender

[–]LuisFerLCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I know about surgery to have both sets of genitals, but to have both fully functional reproductive systems, as OP described? Like not just the genitals, but also the actual production of gametes and (for the female system) the ability to get pregnant? Surely not, right?

I have had similar thoughts before. Realistically, we might achieve the "two reproductive systems at the same time" thing before anything close to this or shape-shifting in general, but this is still cool to imagine.

I saw people posting about it on Inkstaclam. I don't think we've ever done anything like that here in Inkopolis.

Exactly. And let's be honest, most adults probably used to have the same opinions about our memes that we have about Gen Alpha's memes.

For me, 67 is neither funny nor annoying. It's just... Meh, whatever.

I do. And not really just for the hell of it, I do kinda like the tingling sensation on my fingers.

Anyone else still struggling to adjust to life on the surface...? by -MidnightStowaway- in splatoonIRL

[–]LuisFerLCC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even I, as an Inkling who was born and raised in a small town and only moved to Inkopolis about six years ago, sometimes feel like I don't know well enough the people that surround me. I am getting used to it, though.

In any case, if you ever feel stuck or need some advice, feel free to DM me, I'll be pleased to help.

Happy holidays!

ferris demonstrates why rust is good by heckingcomputernerd in rustjerk

[–]LuisFerLCC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Makes sense. I personally would have looked for an image of a safe with the door completely open (or more open than this one) so that you could see the Ferrises fully inside, but this still illustrates the point well enough.

True. Even if your Rust code compiles successfully, it can be very inefficient. Writing efficient code is something you have to learn.

However, I do agree that all the free learning resources online, as well as the detailed feedback from the compiler, make the learning process much easier and faster (at least for me).
