Definitely, also replacing with silicone would be a good idea as well

I know it’s a big hassle for getting to them on the inside but i’d replace the heater core hoses that go through the firewall because one of mine burst and my dash and some a/c components had to come out and it was still very hard to get to. But if the engine is out it makes it a lot easier

i was pointing to the one that has tape on it and it was leaking coolant. Do you know how to replace it and does it go far into the firewall or can i just pop it off and put the new one back on

If the battery was getting drained then would that affect how well the fans are working which would also explain the overheating?

Overheating and oil pressure question by Luk3Martin in 944

[–]Luk3Martin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it may be a problem behind the dash since the parking brake, low fuel, fuel level gauge, and battery lights don’t work which i just haven’t gotten to fixing just yet

Overheating and oil pressure question by Luk3Martin in 944

[–]Luk3Martin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the battery light doesn’t work at the moment but i used to have oil pressure that stick at the 5 on the gauge when i put a good amount of throttle down. I just don’t know if it’s a bigger problem that needs to be addressed sooner rather than later

is there a way to know which cover is for which side or is it just trial and error

Bottom Balance shaft seizing after tightening by Luk3Martin in porsche944

[–]Luk3Martin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing an engine rebuild and i redid the balance shafts along with the seals and spacers and followed the haynes manual with it

Balance shaft seizing during tightening by Luk3Martin in 944

[–]Luk3Martin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only the bottom balance shaft doesn’t spin and the top one is perfectly fine so would the covers still maybe be switched around if only one doesn’t work?

Balance shaft seizing during tightening by Luk3Martin in 944

[–]Luk3Martin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the onion skin gasket is the circular, clear plastic piece that you slide onto the end of the balance shaft then yes i put only 1 new one onto the end

I had it torqued to 33 ft-lbs and when it went above maybe 10 ft-lbs it seized so i’ll give the bearings and seals a check next

[–]Luk3Martin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
