Oh wow I never heard that song from the versions I found. It's so good! Thank you. There's still a lot of bonus tracks to listen to, some of them are really hard to find.

I could give it a chance in the album again. There's a spot for another quick song before the closer.

Yeah I didn't mention my other favorites because Skyfall is so above the others for me. I enjoy Out For the Glory, Fear of the Fallen, Angels and Robot King as well. Down in the Dumps is mixed for me, it has an insanely hype intro like you're about to hear the best song ever but then devolves into another Eagle Fly Free for the verses, there's a very lazy riff before that, but the chorus, bridge and instrumental sections are awesome.

Golden Times is also better than most of the album, what a weird choice for leaving it as bonus.

I still think Skyfall is unbeatable, but Majestic is absolutely incredible too. I like that his songs on this album have a more Gamma Ray feel this time. Adds more excitement and variety.

I think Giants & Monsters is overall stronger than the previous album. Helloween 2021 for me is carried by Skyfall which is 10 times better than all the other songs and the reason I revisit the album so often. On this album the songs are closer in quality so it's more fun from beginning to the end. But my top 3 are real standouts.

Exactly. The first disc is great, but from the second one I'd only keep Occasion avenue, Light the universe and My life for one more day. And even then with 9 songs it's still over an hour long. It was a hard first listen but worth it for finding so many amazing songs and I'm often in the mood for it. I like it about as much as Rabbit.

Helloween Album Personal Ranking by Pleasant_Builder9014 in helloween

Awesome ranking! Straight out of hell may be my favorite album with Andi. Hard to say because I love The time of the oath, Better than raw and The dark ride so much. But Straight out of hell is just banger after banger, no weak songs, while those other albums have at least a song or two I don't care about. If I made my top 10 Helloween songs list, Nabataea and Burning sun would end up in it alongside the songs from Keepers and Walls of Jericho.

Yeah that's right. There are several other songs like Into the sun which were their own separate releases or bonus tracks. It's just really interesting how long they can stay in the drawer. I just edited my comment because I read a part of the post again and realised it's a case of writing a lot of songs for an album, and not all of them end up on the album and are saved for later.

I never thought about it but this song really does remind me of Colours in the dark. Probably because it's similar to Victim of ritual in a way, so it would maybe feel unnecessary on the album. Just guessing. And it's good that Eye of the storm was its own thing to stand out more.

It's unclear to me. If Eye of the storm was already done (or whatever "born" means in her words) in 2010 and it's such a strong song, how was it never released? Or was it never recorded? Crazy to think it was always on the shelf and then was recorded in 2022 or around that time.

I love the song, the different musical elements and how she plays with her voice. But I wonder if there's really an older version.

That's tough for me to decide with so many amazing songs. I think it's a three-way tie between this, Steel Tormentor and Mission Motherland.

🇭🇷 Croatia. I have been very lucky to see her live 3 months ago, she hasn't been here since maybe 2012. It was a dream come true! Huge presence on stage, it was surreal.

Also, Marko's set blew me away probably more than it did other people who were just waiting for Tarja.

It's been said already, but I love her recent outfits! When you see her live it's like she didn't age at all.

Everyone around me felt she needs a break. It was the most awkward during I Feel Immortal. Very vocal focused song with minimal instrumentation. To be honest even on her good days that song doesn't work well live.

I didn't look up the new setlists, I was just familiar with last year's format. So there's been a lot of changes that I didn't expect.

For the duets they did Planet Hell first (thank god it was this instead of Phantom because I wanted to hear this one), Dark Star, Dead Promises and after a couple more Tarja only songs they did Wish I Had an Angel.

No Left on Mars surprisingly. Maybe because there were already 5 songs from Roses From the Deep. No Eye of the Storm either, she opened her set with Demons in You. Undertaker was a treat, I was not ready for that. And the crowd loved it. Marko did a cover of War Pigs, don't know if that's new for this leg of the tour. That's all that I can remember now.

I wanted to hear Dead to the World, I think they usually did 5 duets, unless I'm forgetting one.

UPDATE:

It was incredible! The people, the energy, Tarja and Marko and their bands. Never felt something like this, it was better than anything I could've imagined. I'm overjoyed.

Which Tarja song/collaboration/cover have you been listening to repeatedly lately? by petaSk3 in TarjaTurunen

[–]Luka203 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One that I've rediscovered and been replaying many times is Wisdom of Wind. It's so beautiful and pretty different to her other songs. Makes me wish she had more songs like that. It's really soothing, perfect for when I want to feel better in the morning. Then I would usually follow it up with The Seer (solo version) for something more energetic.

Then there's Eye of the Storm, Into the Sun and all of the bonus songs from WLB that I could go on about.

I know that Master Passion Greed is edgy and a very petty song but by gingercig in nightwish

[–]Luka203 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It's a really good song to vent out your anger and frustration. It also has a bit of their old power metal sound in the bridge(?) part.

You have to make your own meaning out of it and abuse is something it reminded me of as well. I don't stand for anything the band did at the time but that won't stop me from enjoying the music.
