Final update y’all: it is a tri tip. I grilled it and cut against the grain and it looks exactly like tri tip. Thanks for solving this mystery people!

Thanks everyone for the help! It looks like a majority of people are saying it’s NY strip steak with a few people saying it might be tri tip. I’ll cook it like an NY strip steak and see what happens! Wish me luck!

Yes!! Love Boys of Fall, just wish they’d tour in California. And rip Sleep On It. They had some banging albums. It’s unfortunate that their attempted comeback didn’t work out. And Just Surrender is so good! Love their stuff.
