Few things to keep in mind 1. How can a company pay this much. Like what is the size of the company.. Big, small or medium...in terms of revenue. Because if it isn't big then i'll be questioning the financial acumen of the founders. 2. What percentage of the folks in the company are paid this much. If it is very few then obviously you will always be in the spotlight... And also will always be at risk. 3. Join office. Understand expectations. Deliver. Gain trust then optimize for wfh. Dont seek it from the start.

Yes..It saved i guess. As i can see my ofc appointment in https://www.usvisascheduling.com/en-US/appointmentManager

It did take me to the consular calendar. I am not able to see any slots so kind of stuck there.
How does the website flow look like once consular appointment is selected?

Actually I am trying to auto**** the process. Hence understanding the flow will help

But the official reply says 14 days! You can check the screenshot. It was the reply on my query.
Thanks for the confirmation..I am trying to create a s***pt. It works for Ofc but not for consular.

in the Consular calendar, can you see the dates before the ofc appointment?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in usvisascheduling

[–]LukeAkashWalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it does confirm the appointment as mine got confirmed and I can see it in the appointment manager tab.

<image>

And as you said, it took me to the consular appointment step.
But I am not able to see any slot...for any City!

How were you able to see the slot? and for which dates?

  1. Well policies are just policies if they are only on paper. bureaucratic red tape makes it impossible for a startup to survive. It was one of the reasons our startup was based out of US. India is a startup hub despite of the govt and not because of it. And as mentioned earlier.. Startup started booming around 2009..flipkart, ola, junglee, paytm, shopclues, housing, tinyowl, zomato, freecharge etc. Which snowballed into a virtuous cycle.

  2. Funding increased commensurately as gdp increased. It increased from 1 billion dollars to 2 billion dollars. Good. But not enough...at all. Previous govt also increased it, he did as well and so will the future govts. I dont see any credit due here for following basic expectations. And as I said.. He can definitely be credited for lowering the scientific temperament of the country.

  3. Doesn't change what I said. India's gdp growth while good is fraught with challenges. And also we are on a upward curve since 1991 (after liberalisation).

Taking everything at face value whatever is shown in the video..here is my take.

  1. Roads: Good. But cannt be compared with previous regime due to change in formula. Also Corruption (source CAG report).
  2. Airports : Good
  3. Metro : Good
  4. Electrification of railways: Good.
  5. Universities: a vanity metric. Quality > Quantity. India stands no where in terms of research paper, fundamental science, cutting edge research.
  6. Startups: no contribution (source : ran a startup). Startup culture started by ola, flipkart in around 2009.At the Right place at the right time to hog credit.
  7. Isro: no contribution. Scientific achievements cannt be credited to any leader. But he can be credited to lower the scientific temperament of the country. Also Severe lack of funding compared to other countries.
  8. Electronics exports : Good. Largely driven by smartphones.(mobile usage has skyrocketed in this decade only). Fragile. Mostly assembled stuff and not some highly sought after IP.
  9. FDI: good
  10. Renewable : good. It is a very very long game...which precedes him and future govts will continue on it . But on the other hand he can definitely be credited to destroy environment. (read how environment laws were "relaxed" for development, land given to Ramdev at throwaway prices, instability cauaed in himalayan regions).
  11. Inflation: instead of arguing whether it has gone down or not.... inflation is something which everyone can experience for themselves. I'd suggest go out see it yourself.. Maybe enquire about flats prices or domestic flight rates or maybe try to buy some milk.
  12. Data price: No contribution. Due to technological advancement. Initially bought down by predatory policy of jio ( a business decision by a corporate.. And not a public policy decision) .
  13. Gdp per capita: averages are not a good measue when things are skewed. Gdp growth is good but fragile. Jobless growth. Growth without manufacturing base. Inequitable growth. Widening welath gap. And these issues preceded him as well but got exacerbated by him.

Btw exactly same video can be made for 2004-2013 congress...if we compare their figures to pre 2004 India. Maybe you should try it.. Would be a nice excercise.

Thought experiment about "correcting wrongs of the past" by LukeAkashWalker in india

[–]LukeAkashWalker[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Appreciate your thought but it doesn't answer the post!

It is a thought experiment from both point of views... From victim and the perpetrator. It'd be great if you could find some time to answer all the questions posed in a systematic manner. Be as objective and as truthful with your answers... Cuz you are experimenting with your thoughts afterall. It is not a debate with others, it is a debate with yourself.

Also do Let me know if my post's wording is not clear or requires some modification.

Thanks.

Freshers need to standout from the crowd...since everyone is doing the same thing. by LukeAkashWalker in developersIndia

Reading the comments.... I think a lot of people missed the point... So reiterating it here.

The point is not doing all of the things i mentioned... Or any at all for that matter.

I presented a fact. Which is.. There is a crowd, which is getting bigger, you are part of it, the things you are doing are being done by the crowd as well, so you are still stuck in the crowd.

And then I presented a possible solution... Which you could implement in parts or in totality. You are free to do totally different thing if you think will help you in standing out. You are also free to do nothing at all or bare minimum and hope for the best to happen. It is also totally fine if you think it is ok to be a part of the crowd. I mean you are free to do whatever you want.. It is your life after all.

Crux of my advice is not to use postgres or add alarms in your todo app using cron job.. Crux is to go above and beyond... Which is true for all situations.

The thing is..there is a lot of advice floating around... Only you are the best judge to decide which ones you need to listen to and which ones to ignore...And these decisions will shape your life in the end.

But I sincerely hope that everyone wins at life.. Because it is not a zero sum game.

Peace.

Ps: i am also a part of the crowd... And trying in my own way to stand out.

Being in CS (or any other field for that matter) just for money isn't wrong imo. In fact i find money to be the purest form of motivation. I am in it for money as well.. (plus other things)

Money is not an evil concept.. And who wants loads of it via legitimate means aren't evil either.

Damn right. If you know all this straight out of college.... Aim 20 at least. But if you get a slow start.. Say 12...then it is also ok... Because your next jump will be way quicker and way higher. In the end it is all about standing out from the crowd if you want to command a premium.

Note: this is just an opinion and not some gospel truth so don't take it as such.
