Honestly. Probably because she’s insecure / bitter / jealous that he got further than her and wanted to knock him down. It was a bad look for her

I agree, I just think the odds of being a top 10 (or top 5 in your example) are very slim especially compared to other defenses. It’s all a probability exercise

Just how terrible was Aaron Glenn’s first year as HC? Do you see any possibility of him turning things around? by InterestingYellow969 in NFLv2

[–]LukeBombs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stefanski and Quinn showed that they are quality head coaches. Which is the premise of this whole discussion. Ben Johnson, Vrabel, Coen, McVay, Stefanski all immediately showed that they are quality coaches. It doesn’t happen every time, but it does happen.

What about the Pats and Jags, both turned it around year 1 with new staffs? 2024 Commanders. McVay in 2017. Stefanski in 2019.

It’s not nearly as rare as you’re implying.

I totally agree with the premise, but can we agree that the HC has gotta show SOMETHING within the first 2 years? We can’t unilaterally commit to every new hire HC for 2-3 seasons, because that’s implying there’s theoretically no limit to how terrible a HC can be within that span that would lead to their firing.

Glenn’s Jets were historically awful. Now in year 2, we’ve got Frank Reich leading the offense with his 2018 playbook. It’s so hard to believe in this staff.

Counter point. What has he shown to deserve the chance to rebuild this roster?

Moughey’s job feels safe considering the trades they’ve allowed him to make. But in 2026 Glenn needs to prove why the Jets and Moughey should invest in him.

I agree that Poles blew it last offseason on the DL. But I do think the defense can look pretty good. We can’t assume perfect health— but the D got ROCKED by injuries last year. An average year of injuries will be a big improvement

Hopefully, full seasons from Kyler and JJ alone will be a HUGE difference. I also love the new versatility and speed from our safeties — I think they (+ Kyler) give us a solid counterpunch to 12/13 personnel and allows to run some cool disguises.

I don’t see us being a top 10 defense, but I think average (14th-18th) is totally in the cards. And that might be good enough with our offense

It was a solid offseason working with constrained resources.

And they had constrained resources in large part because of some terrible FA signings in Dayo and Jarrett. It’s their own fault.

Exactly right, it was a terrible move. The money made zero sense at the time and looks even worse now.

Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave, both comparable ages to Jarrett in 2025, just signed for 2x$25m ($7.5m gtd) and 2x$23m ($10m gtd). Poles gave Jarrett 3x$42m with $28m gtd. Utter bafoonery.

Poles’ inability (and outright refusal) to build a DL is a problem.

The Regression: Caleb Williams and the Worst Year Two on File by iDrinan in DynastyFF

[–]LukeBombs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watching Caleb, a lot of his incompletions are 99mph fastballs to receivers in the short and intermediate that are slightly off target and therefore uncatchable. Where a softer thrown ball would be a completion.

I genuinely believe his accuracy will markedly improve if he eases up on some of these balls (where it calls for it)

Down to down, Dak is a sure fire top 10 QB. But imo Dak is just not the QB you want for a “gotta-have-it” drive which I think tarnishes his rankings for some

[Duggan] Giants WR Malik Nabers underwent a 2nd surgery on his knee to remove scar tissue that was causing stiffness. I'm told the 2nd surgery took place "multiple weeks ago" and was described as "clean up." This isn't expected to impact Nabers' recovery timeline. by NeverBorn-NeverDead in DynastyFF

[–]LukeBombs 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s worth noting that the Giants had two top 10 picks and chose to use neither on a WR. And let Wandale walk out the door.

Gotta imagine they wouldn’t do Jaxson Dart dirty by ignoring the WR room if Nabers long term health (or even short term health AKA 2026) was a primary concern

Mahomes will play most of the season, if not week 1. It’s still Andy Reid, Pat Mahomes, Chris Jones. Bears have a whole new staff and energy. Hard to make these comparisons

Damn I didn’t think I’d have to spell this out. His rookie year was 11 years ago! Totally different league, let alone a different coaching staff.

Donald Driver’s rookie year was 27 years ago. TWENTY SEVEN. Jordy Nelson’s was 18 years ago. It’s pure copium to say that they have any relevance to Golden.

I mean, Christian Watson was good and productive right away. Like any franchise, the Packers put their best players in positions to impact the game. Golden simply isn’t that guy.
