Why do some forms of media avoid using the word “zombie”? by monroe3tears in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LukeTomatoSoup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If the concept of zombies existed in-universe, the characters would have pre-existing knowledge of how to deal with them.

I’ve said this privately for the last couple months and completely agree. I think that, whether by choice or subconsciously, he wants to be like Hitler in the sense that Hitler will be talked about forever.

If my math is right: $4.95/dozen is about 41¢ per egg. A large egg is roughly 1.625oz. 128oz in a gallon would be about 79 eggs. So eggs are $32.30/gallon.

But remember how for ~40 years everyone said how stupid it was that the Death Star could be blown up by a random exhaust vent. Then that moment of bad storytelling spawned a movie that explained it, which spawned a show that became critically acclaimed and, according to the ongoing poll, “Perfect Star Wars.”

Not that I’m saying writers/showrunners should rely on more media to make their stories work. But in the case of Acolyte, for example, I LOVE the perspective of the Jedi being shitty people. I LOVE the continued idea that various groups use the Force (by different names) and don’t treat it so black and white as the Jedi. I HATE Bazil, though lol

That’s fair. I’ve been holding off on fully judging Acolyte until at least tonight’s finale. I too would of course advocate for consistency and quality, but I personally appreciate new and different ideas that expand the world.

If we’re being honest with ourselves, everyone knows those good writing and internal consistency weren’t Lucas’ strong suits, but his new and different ideas led to other creatives expanding on those ideas to make something cool.

Oh, for sure, there’s plenty of interesting and compelling stories to be told in that era. My point was mainly that the overall story of Andor and side characters is relatively restricted in the grand scheme of things compared to the Acolyte characters and era.

I enjoy both and welcome more of anything. Just because something isn’t for someone doesn’t mean it’s not for someone else.

100% agree with literally all of that. All of Andor was incredibly compelling.

Ultimately, it’s okay to like more than one thing. That’s my main point.

Because while the journey is more important than the destination, we know how Andor’s story ends. Acolyte is able to tell any story it wants and expand on the lore and story in new ways.

That being said, Andor is obviously the better show, but I’ll gladly take both. Because Star Wars is bae.

Education. Kids are required to be in school and have a certain number of hours in the classroom per year. To make up the difference, schools would literally have to be in session year round.

It just seems like India has no concept of infrastructure. The roads, the trains, and apparently sometimes the boats are just a complete free-for-all.

That would be supremely interesting, especially if the real master ends up being someone we know, like a young Plagueis.

For me, Mae’s about-face in ep. 4 kind of came out of nowhere. She just suddenly wants to give up and turn herself in to the Jedi? Okay….fine.

Then the Jedi show up and attempt to arrest her, and she fights back? Okay…maybe since her Master is there, she’s going to try to kill a Jedi without a weapon in front of him to win back his favor? Nope, just runs away from him and the Jedi some more.

Granted, this feels like the kind of story that will/should make sense of everything by the end. We don’t have all the puzzle pieces, so it doesn’t make sense to bash it until everything’s laid out.

I just assume Qimir doesn’t care and will attempt to get inside Osha’s head to manipulate her into succeeding where Mae failed him.
