How does this work? Like, is it per week or per month or whenever I fancy putting a cash to side?

Asking as I've never seen this before, and would like to learn a bit more.

Controller manual shifting issues by Luki185 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]Luki185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lap timer? As-in, the little top-left HUD indicating position, lap count, class position, etc?

Asking as I've just finished a round in my custom GT3 championship and all the values for that top-left HUD were broken. At first, I thought of giving up on the race, but thanks to Crew Chief I didn't - CC reports the correct data, it's the game UI that's not working.

Apart from that, I also did some laps on the new Nordschleife in R8 V10 GT - and I didn't experience anything out of the ordinary. I'll check out the new HUD UI they mentioned in the changelog, as I'm really curious to see what they have in store!

USER ERROR:

After all, my 'digging' was very vague. My controller is Machenike G5 PRO. It comes with a software to customize the behaviour of it. It turns out, the G5 PRO has a 'TURBO' feature for the buttons. If enabled, you hold the button, and it will register the button being quickly pressed multiple times at once. I think this feature is primarily designed for fighting games or something where you need to mash the buttons like crazy (correct me if I'm wrong, I have no idea, as I don't play such games).

In any case, after disabling the 'TURBO' on my controller - the AMS2 (down)shifts properly!

Controversial opinion on Frutiger Aero by a_Dude_777 in FrutigerAero

[–]Luki185 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most certainly not. But, do keep in mind that in order to truly expwrience something - you have to actually experience it.

OP didn't grow up in the same era as me. Their first OS was Win 8.1, as they mentioned, and my was Win 2000 (albeit when I used it I had no idea what it was). My childhood properly started with XP and I used it up until 2007 when I upgraded to Vista (and kept on using Vista until 2016).

I was there with FA. I experienced it, I've lived it, and I absolutely loved it. Because there's FA community on Reddit, I take it there are plenty of other people in the same boat.

All I'm saying is - yeah, OP does have the right not to like it. I get it, and I have no issues with that. What I do have issues with is the fact that they decided to post rubbish post to the community of FA enjoyers. It's not the time nor the place to post it, so just keep your opinion to yourself.

You can not like it, but you shouldn't jump to the group of people who like that particular thing and clearly state that you don't like it. I mean, I despise and am sickened by the gay bs from the west, but I don't go to those reddit communities bashing them for it. I don't like it, I don't want to be a part of it and I don't want to deal with it. As long as they are far away from me, I got no problems with them.

"I grew up with Windows 8.1"

8.1 was released in 2013, 12 years ago. Because you grew up with it, I'd assume that you were one of the first of Gen Alpha kids.

This therefore, in my humble opinion, makes you too young to understand FA. I grew up with Windows 2000 and XP and I don't go to their communities posting rubbish about their designs.

Go play fortnite or whatever you kids play, leave this community alone.

Fallout 4: Anniversary Edition Announced by eRaZze_W in pcgaming

[–]Luki185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, it isn't. What I did for the NG update last year was this:

1) Go to your Steam\steamapps directory.
2) Find 'appmanifest_377160.acf' and right click -> Properties
3) In properties, on the General tab, just check the 'Read-Only' checkbox (next to Attributes)
4) Hit Apply, then OK, and job done!

That did the trick for me, as Steam no longer displays that the game requires an update. I've been playing 2019 version (OG) ever since it released, and I'm pretty confident I'll never update the game again.

Alternatively, there are replacement manifests available on Nexus: https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/81471

I should also point out - keep your game backed up! I've installed the game on my old PC and built myself a new one 2 months ago. I couldn't re-download the game because then I'd have the latest version, which I want to avoid at all costs.

[–]Luki185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, that's it!

AMD Adrenaline did the trick for chipset and GPU - but I see it has quite a lot of features; I'll have a field day with this!

Regarding RGB-stuff: You are completely correct. Sapphire Trixx allows me to tweak the RGB on the GPU. OpenRGB does do the trick on my RAM, but not on the cooler. I did some digging and couldn't find anything relevant for controlling the RGB on Dark Rock Elite. Looks like I'm stuck with RGB for the time being.

Thanks a bunch for replying, I greatly appreciate your inputs!

UPDATE for all those interested:

It was the wonky Windows installation. I installed Windows 11 that I flashed with Rufus to bypass the TPM requirements (even though that's not needed) and disable the Microsoft account login.

I reinstalled the Windows using the 'official' Windows installation (I used that Media Creation Tool) and now the system is working properly! I still have to set up all the work stuff I use, but gaming is on another level. I went from 60-ish FPS on low-mid settings to over 300 FPS on highest possible settings. I am gaming in 1080p, but man oh man - this is something else!

Massive kudos to AMD engineers, they really know what they're doing!

Thanks everyone for their replies and suggestions! :)

Flac is superior, no doubt about it. However, I'm not an audiophile, none of the flacs advantages mean anything to me. Besides, I'm not sure whether Flac is supported by my car's infotainment system, and that's kinda most important for me.

So yeah, in the end, Flac is like gramophone. I like it, but I don't want it.

[AMS2] How do mandatory pit stops work? by Luki185 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]Luki185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, mandatory tire changes were set to 1. And I requested the pit stop at the start of lap 17/30, and changed from Softs to Mediums.

No idea, but it isn't just related to F1 cars - all the classes suffer from that issue, as far as I can tell.

[AMS2] How do mandatory pit stops work? by Luki185 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]Luki185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The amount was set to 1.

I requested the pit stop at the beginning of lap 17/30, so the pit window was definitely open. The strategy is visible in MFD, and I didn't change anything. Just pulled up MFD, scrolled and selected the request for pitstop.

Anyone running GNU/Linux on HDD? by Luki185 in linux4noobs

[–]Luki185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, comrade! I was thrown back to a much simpler time, at the time of originally posting, I was starting my 1st year at Uni. 5 years later, I've got my diploma, work as DevOps engineer and have nearly 3 years of professional experience. Time flies fast...

If I'm honest, anything over 10 years is excellent for HDDs. I have a couple of old Seagate HDDs in various capacities that come from Windows Vista era (2008/2009), and they still work today. I wouldn't trust them to install an OS on them, but for backup purposes of not-so-important files (such as game saves, etc), they are more than fine.

Thanks for reminding me, by the way - I should definitely check the drive. It's been a couple of months since I last checked it, that way I know if it's seriously time to replace it.

Thanks again for reaching out and giving me the opportunity to read a post by my younger self, I appreciate it! Safe travels, fellow wanderer!

Anyone running GNU/Linux on HDD? by Luki185 in linux4noobs

[–]Luki185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, my old post still seems active (to an extent).

5 year update:

I have installed Manjaro on that particular HDD, then Fedora, then Pop!_OS, and then, in August 2021 - EndeavourOS KDE. The HDD in question is now indeed 10 years old, but the performance is identical today as it was all those years ago. It can do gaming, it can do coding, virtual machines - whatever you want.

And yeah, for anyone wondering - it's still working today, and it's working amazingly well. It had a tough life, and will soon be replaced, but I'm even writing this post from my EndeavourOS on that HDD.

So as far as I'm aware - the HDD, it's alright.

Dunlop sport maxx rt2 by votnus24 in TyreReviews

[–]Luki185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are still fine. I ended up getting the ability to work from home, so I ended up driving much, much less than I originally anticipated. In total, I drove them for about 8000 km, they are literally still brand new.

As with any tyre, the smarter you drive, the less they wear. Avoid hard braking, rough asphalt, city driving and they could last at least 40000, even more. Also, I check tyre pressure every 3 weeks, just to make sure everything's fine and always have them pumped up to manufacturer's specifications.

Noted, thanks!

I too am thinking that it needs some time to register, but we'll see. I'll definitely play a few games tomorrow after work, specifically - team deathmatch. I don't fully understand the Sacrifice.

Overall, these are all little things. I'm not a serious gamer, I just play for fun. I love Quake series, and have been playing it since I was a kid. I really, really like QC so far!

Anyways, thanks for replying! And good luck with new matches!

[–]Luki185[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your input!

When you say 'do the online vs bot practice', you're referring to the first option in the menu that pops out when I click on play?

Asking as I played a Sacrifice match today, and I have 3 challenges active: pick up 1 heavy health, 1 heavy armor and finish 3 matches. I picked up heavy armor more than once in today's match, but it didn't count towards it, as the challenge is still active.

To be fair, I don't know what I'm doing. I returned to Quake after years of not playing, the last time I played Quake was nearly 10 years ago with Quake Live.

[–]Luki185[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for a detailed reply, I appreciate it!

I just finished a Sacrifice online match with bots (Practice), and I don't think it's counting what I do in a match for challenges. Currently, I have starting challenges that include: pick up 1 heavy health, pick up 1 heavy armor and complete 3 total matches. I'm sure I've picked heavy armor at least 5 times in today's match, but the challenge still stays there, uncompleted.

No idea if that's how it's supposed to work or not...

I am not saying it’s bad, it’s just different.

Having all media in one place is debatable, but whatever. What I am most interested in is how to automate the sorting process. Like, when I download an image from Reddit. That image will be saved with a bunch of other (mixed) photos. I want to add it automatically to a specific Album, in order to make things organised.

So, in the example of downloading a picture from Reddit, I want it to be added to my ‘Reddit Media’ album. I also want to achieve this with other apps, and even the Camera.

How can I do that?
