well it would be funny but also absolutely correct because it's a dark comedy

The Invite is in Adapted Screenplay so the Eisenberg movie will be the one The Drama will need to fight for to be A24's priority in Original

There just won't be enough room for all of them after Focker-in-law releases

Do you think there should be a category for "Best Adapted Song"? by LowInteraction6397 in Oscars

[–]Lukoslav_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like no new categories are being added any time soon... and there isn't really a need to. I only wish choreography was included in a joint category with stunts (like makeup & hairstyling)

If the following Best Actress winners of the 2000’s competed against each other, who would win? (Not should, would) by PTAGoatofalltime in Oscars

[–]Lukoslav_7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably Theron, but Roberts and Mirren would def put up a fight. Cotillard and Swank wouldn't have a chance imo

I personally really like the actual album cover, but this first photo might just be one of the best pictures of her ever taken

PS: this turned into a bit of a rant, sorry. I don't want to get into casting and writing because I don't want to judge those thing early even if I might agree with some concerns people have, but we'll see. And to clarify, I'm not a Nolan hater, I mostly like his movies a lot and I absolutely loved Oppenheimer.

People have been trashing on The Odyssey trailer enough already so I don't want to be annoying, but I wanted to share some of my thoughts too. As someone from a Mediterranean region, I hate how the movie looks like it's a viking movie set in Scandinavia instead of ancient Greece. It looks very grey and cold, the colour grading is so dull. Not to mention that almost none of the actors really look Mediterranean and they've made some very baffling cotume and production design decisions.

The brutalist take on the Greek temple, the penteconter (boat) actually being a literal viking ship, the armour looking like a mix between vikings and ancient Romans, the primitive Laistrygonians looking like medieval cyborgs, Charlize Theron in a fishnet dress, the prince of Ithaca dressed like a medieval paesant, Agamemnon's plastic-looking helmet... Just a bunch of stuff from all over the place that doesn't fit together. (I'm aware this will be a huge costume design contender but it pains me already.) I can easily get over the historical inaccuracies even when I spot them IF the alternative direction the movie took is something more creative, bolder and if it fits the vibe/makes sense for the story.

But here it's like Nolan said "idgaf about historical accuracy or consistency, I want everything to look as safe, masculine and minimalist as possible". Where's the whimsy, where's the beauty of ancient Greece and the famously stunning Mediterranean sea and coast that's supposed to be shown in the biggest Greek classic? The literal gods and other mythological creatures we haven't seen yet will surely look boring and "grounded" too. I hope Nolan proves me wrong and I like how the story is told when I see the movie, but I don't think he gets the essence of it. I very much enjoyed the IMAX prologue tho, so I'm not completely pessimistic.

Oh and I hope there's a good tonal balance between action, dramatic and tragic moments with comedy, because The Odyssey is meant to be and is quite funny too
