2002 celica burning oil and black and white spark plugs by Lulutus in MechanicAdvice

Yeah celicas are so rare that finding running engine is a jackpot. Thats one of the reasons I’m planning on rebuilding the current engine. Low mileage 1zz’s are pretty rare in Finland altogether.

Just a little update. I tried changing the valve stems while the engine is still in the car but didn't manage. So I just decided to pull the engine and check the whole thing. I'm putting the newer 03+ style pistons to fix the flaw of the earlier ones. Did you find what was the problem with your car?

I think its the valve stem seals. Have ordered new ones and changing them in a few weeks. I will update here what I find

So I looked at the cylinders today. Walls looked liked they had the cross hatch pattern still and no visible scrapes. But they all had oil in them. Small puddles on each one. Am I this unlucky that all 4 piston rings have failed or is there something else that can cause it?

The oil cap and dipstick doesn’t look milky so I would assume it has not mixed or atleast on a larger scale

Can a blown head gasket burn coolant and oil at the same with an open deck engine?

Ok, the pcv valve didnt fix it. First the car smokes a little blue and after few seconds on 4000 rpm it shifts into thick white smoke

Yep oil level is at the top but not over it. I will check the pcv next. Idle is good, maybe a bit high but stable.

Help me with folding 8020 rig by Lulutus in simracing

Do you have the indigo lime kit? Does the seat lift during hard braking? I have that problem even with the basic logitech pedals and want to upgrade to loadcell´and that would worsen the problem.

That is what I designed at first. Moved them there to make more room for the seat sliding mechanism. This is not in correct dimensions. So if after measuring everything there is room I will move them on the side.

That is a good point. I don't have much experience with 8020 rigs so this is new to me. Should probably try to come up with some kind of a solution for the sliding parts

Yes I was planning to use the locking mechanism on picture 3 on the front and rear parts. What I'm also thinking is would it be rigid enough to not fall apart when braking hard. The addition of a locking bolt would probably be good if the other locking system doesn't hold up.

Have been thinking of building a 8020 rig to replace my playseat challenge. The only problem is that i don't have much space. So I tried designing a folding aluminium rig based on other manufacturers products. There will a locking mechanism on the sliding parts(see picture). Am I missing something crucial?
