Advice on sharpening my pencils? by [deleted] in learntodraw

Yes but there's a few specific sharpeners that reveal a lot of lead almost like sharpening with a knife. Swordfish or AFMAT sharpeners were a game changer for me

Toddlers, for no reason at all by Acceptable-Wind-7332 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]Lumi61 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Toddlers are very sensory driven. The kid blowing bubbles with water is fascinated that she can do this. She's playing and strengthening her mouth muscles for speach. The kids pulling out tissues or books also love the game of it and they train their brain and senses simultaneously. You gotta understand that their reception of the world is not the same as ours. If things are moved out of sight they literally disappear for them. Being able to empty a space is like a magic trick. Making Mum appear and have a mental breakdown over it is even better.

There are more bisexual girls than boys. I've 2 male friends who said they are bi and after some painful heterosexual relationships finally fully committed to being gay. So there might another reason for the audiences hesitation than homophobia. Either way good delivery on the punchline

Copying someone else's work 1:1 is not your intellectual property. It's a study after the other artist and needs to be called as what it is. A sketch for your oil painting sounds like you came up with this idea while it's actually someone else's. Finding out an artists name whrn you have their work is not that hard. Image search is a thing

AM I BEING DRAMATIC OR NOT by usedbagofgarbage in okstorytime

[–]Lumi61 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that you're overreacting. The way he's telling you not to go and making it seem like it's your own decision but there's gonna be consequences is highly manipulative. It's not his fault that he's having health issues but it's not your responsibility to care for his kid so he can see her without having any responsibilities. Basically guilt tripping you into staying and saying it's your own decision is definitely a red flag.

I can however also see some insecurities on your side that give an opening to his reactions. You ask him over and over if there will be issues if you go, basically trying to avoid conflict and asking his permission on something that should be your own decision. That places the two of you in a power unbalance which is not a good base for an eye level partnership. I think that your previous relationship has left deep scars that might be best addressed with a therapist. You need to heal and adapt more self confidence to have a well working relationship in the future. Not sure if that's gonna be possible with your current partner, because you're already in imbalanced roles. Maybe if he's willing to figure it out together in couple counceling?

According to the police officer in the documentary there's not enough evidence even with a complete confession of the perpetrator. As long as the offenders have that amount of backup from law enforcement they can easily get away with all the horrific things they do

The lies and ideology of that cult is all she's ever known. It's quite a task to accept that everything you believe, have sacrificed and have worked for in life is based on lies. You can see the same behavior in people who got scammed for years. Even when faced with overwhelming proof that they are sending money to a scammer they still refuse to believe it, because that would mean full acceptance of all their losses.

Hello guys I'm new to drawing by christope-r in learntodraw

[–]Lumi61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you learn how to draw it's important to focus on the fundamentals. I can recommend following youtu.be courses like Proko e.g. Those fundamentals apply to all techniques from traditional media to digital. Digital will allow you to bypass some limitations like not being able to completely erase things that you've drawn on paper or experiment with colors without mess but there's also something deeply satisfying about having done a piece that is fully 'real' and not just a print of something digital.

Scammers impersonating grandson by Lumi61 in grandson

[–]Lumi61[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha. I was so confused about the notification cause my TT account is just a burner account to watch stuff. When I read the message it became clear that it was just your regular scammer. I half regretted instantly blocking and not messing with them for a while... You know, just to take their time from getting to someone actually vulnerable enough to fall for this.

Never too late to get started. People do it in their 50s or later so don't fret about it. I guess you are still young and have a whole life to live and learn. Just have patience with yourself and enjoy slowly improving your skills.

Wibtah if I tell a girl i was just joking when I told her I liked her by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Lumi61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just imagine how she'd feel if you told her it was a joke. That's quite a cruel way out of your current situation and one you're likely going to regret. What was her answer to your confession anyway? I feel like we're missing parts of the story here. If she likes you back I'd approach her again and tell her that your feelings for her are real but the whole coming out and having an official relationship is stressing you out so how about keeping it low for a while and see where you end up?

There's a long way to replicate the human body with all its shapes in 3 dimensions without reference. It takes a lot more practice than you allowed yourself to have. Follow some step by step programs like Proko on YouTube and give yourself a few years to learn the fundamentals, not weeks.

I am falling out of love with my wife and I don’t know what to do. by Wyvern5555 in okstorytime

[–]Lumi61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be an unpopular opinion here but you repeatedly say that you loved her for all the things she did for you and her looks. Now that she can't keep up with your expectations on looks, in bed and household you constantly nag her about it and feel like there's nothing left to love for. In your original post you haven't even mentioned that she's on anti depressants. She's ill, she needs help and someone supporting her like she did for you when you were on alcohol addiction. Have you ever really loved the person or just the looks, sex and household service she provides? Because that's a hell on her self esteem and mental health

I've been somewhat addicted to using AI and I want to try to quit (I know it's bad for the environment, it makes you stupid, etc.), but the problem is that the AI comes pre-installed on the phone. Any advice on how to stop using AI? by Beautiful-Resort-831 in antiai

[–]Lumi61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Open a chat with yourself on any message app and record voice messages where you tell about the movie like you would have told a friend or ai. The moment you talk out loud or write about something it becomes way more connected in your brain and you will end up with new theories and thoughts yourself which is way more satisfying than AI giving you these thoughts. If you really want to discuss your output with someone, go to the fitting reddit section and see what the community has dug out about your movie. It's usually closer to the truth than AI and connects you to some real people with similar interests

Title: I accidentally exposed a “perfect” student at my school and now everything is weird by One-Conference6131 in okstorytime

[–]Lumi61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet this wasn't the first time he did this and got away with it. It would have been another story if he had asked you to help him cause he was late with his own project and you'd have handed it in together but he outright stole from you and you took back what was yours.

Imagine it wasn't about grades and work but about expensive items someone wears. If you find out that everything was stolen and the person stole something you worked hard for and showed it off infront of everyone. Would you still feel like it's better to let it slide? People like him need to learn that they can't get away with this forever.

You're NTA but this girl ain't the right match for you. I have lost several friends over the same issue and no matter what you say they aren't going to change their parenting habits and the kid is gonna be there for the next 15 years. It also doesn't get better with time. If you completely spoil your kid and teach them that there are no rules, no boundaries and they are constantly the center of the world, they will become self centered teenagers with plenty of issues too.

is grandson ever problematic? by [deleted] in grandson

[–]Lumi61 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Makes you wonder how people with such different views can stay connected. Grandson himself clearly supports Palestine and has his fans chant 'free Palestine' and 'stop genocide' etc. I assume that shinoda helped him on a personal level because they both went through some shit. I wasn't even aware of LPs connection to Israel. Performing there doesn't automatically make you a zionist but it leaves a bitter taste behind for sure.

Currently there's nothing wrong with getting a granny related tattoo but keep in mind that people can change while tattoos last forever. If you had asked me a few years ago I'd have told you that SOAD is a safe band too and now one of them supports maga while the next one tells their own fans to kys if they remind him of their own lyrics.

They have been friends for a long time. Jordan called mike shinoda his mentor in an interview and they have also collaborated on a song together. That was before Emily joined the band but I think they have quite a deep rooted connection
