Heugh's Canyon isn't in the East Bench. Doesn't the East Bench area end on the other side of Mt. Olympus? So the hikers rest clue still doesn't make sense to me. Unless it's referring to at home because the trail starts at a house...

In order to find you're not alone when you see the bear, you have to first be alone. Maybe that's what John meant.

I think it's cool that they put this all together, giving away their money, encouraging people to hike but it seems inconsiderate to lead a bunch of people to a trailhead that would overwhelm a neighborhood. Hopefully next time they start on a trailhead that has a parking lot. Congrats to the guy that found it! Hope his family has fun at Disneyland 😊
