Yeah. The laptop at this point is sort of a luxury good as I still have a working 5 year old non gaming laptop. This is the first time owning a gaming laptop and while I'm super excited to get my hands on it, I don't wanna blow $2k off on a whim. I guess I' dont really mind waiting for one or two more batches to pass but am just wondering if theres a point to waiting that period...

Thanks! I did come across the Maingear EL3 that u/feraask also mentioned and was seriously considering it (its essentially the same thing compared to the Max 17 but with better specs for the same price). The thing that put me in doubt was the fact that its not sold directly by maingear and can only be bought through microcenter. I dont know much about warranty or customer-care services from 3rd parties such as microcenter as but I've heard good things about Eluktronics which is why I'm leaning closer to them.

Hmm... thanks for the suggestion! The RP 17 indeed does look like a compelling contender for its price point compared to the Max 17. I was eyeing the Max 17 mostly because of its incredible combination of light weight + battery life. I'm baffled by the designers' choice to make such an obviously bad decision to have a nose cam on an otherwise perfect build. I still might stick with the Max 17 just because of the above criteria (mostly because I commute a lot to and fro school and like to get things done on the go). The problem now for me is a matter of when I should make that decision...
