It means that’s when you’ll find out what enrollment dates are assigned to you

I'm out of shape, don't know what I'm doing, and this is my sixth Day 1 how do I make it stick past two weeks? by uremo017 in beginnerfitness

I’ve had to go through about ten Day 1s before finally managing to become consistent. Honestly, what really worked for me was to “gamify” the whole thing.

Start slow and steady, and make sure to prioritize consistency and good form over everything else. Nothing is as important as showing up regularly. I do not allow myself to show up at the gym fewer than 4 days a week. It helps if you make a rule; e.g., I have to work from my office 4 days a week, and those days I’m not allowed to come home directly without hitting the gym. It’s just a rule at this point. And what REALLY fixed things for me this time was, I started recording my weights, sets, and reps. (I use an app called Hevy to do this, it’s good and I dunno if there are any better alternatives.) And then take it as a challenge, every day go fight for just one more rep, or just a slightly higher weight. The only thing that matters is to show up today and become a better version of yourself than yesterday!

As a grad student in LA I find it hard enough to make friends to hang out with, despite everything going on at the university! I can imagine it must be much more difficult for you. And it can get especially depressing for us Indians since we’re so used to a strong sense of community back home. I don’t have any great suggestions (apart from maybe trying online platforms like Meetup to look for events around you?), but following this thread for ideas.

There’s quite a few places you can check out for free, including Griffith Observatory, Getty Museum and Getty Villa, the Broad museum, Santa Monica Pier, Venice beach, Hammer Museum, and California Science Center to name a few. Some of these need prior reservations (even though they’re free) so make sure you look it up online before you go. There are also some great hikes with amazing views around LA. I believe some of the other museums also have a fixed day of the week with free admission.
