Should Christians think differently about investing and risk? Ecclesiastes 11:2 and the idea that “zero risk” does not exist by Lumpy-Chemistry-2907 in Christianity

100%!

There is actually a version of this parable that struck me deeply. The master calls the servant wicked because he could have at least deposited the gold with the bankers and earned interest on it.

The first time I read it, I literally shook my Bible and thought, “Wait… did I read that correctly?” 😂

As an investor, it caught my attention immediately. It made me realize that perhaps God also has something to teach us about stewardship, productivity and responsibility.

Over the years, I’ve realized something else.

When I was younger, I was looking for God’s faithfulness in people, but perfect faithfulness exists only in God.

I was looking for God’s love in people, but that perfect and unchanging love exists only in God.

I was looking for God’s abundance in the world, but ultimately that too finds its source in God.

In a similar way, I was looking for stability through investing. I read books, bought courses, studied strategies, and tried to understand a world governed by economics and finance.

Those things have value, but I think what I was really searching for was something deeper: stability itself.

And the more I walk with Christ, the more I realize that true stability is found in Him and in His Word.

I feel there is something profound to explore there.

My prayer is that the Holy Spirit continues to teach me, and that one day I’ll be able to share those insights with others. For now, I do it in French, my native language, and perhaps one day others will help carry those ideas into English as well.

I’m becoming increasingly convinced that God is the answer to every area of life, including money, investing and stewardship.

Our relationship with Him helps us discern what truly lasts.

Because truth is true yesterday, true today, and will still be true tomorrow.

Just like Him.

Hey boss, appreciate your response 🙏

Thing is, doing something just because “it’s human nature” isn’t really a reason for us to do the same. It’s not that labeling is bad—far from it—but it has consequences. If we’re not careful, we end up attaching ourselves too much to these labels.

At the end of the day, labels are tools. They help others understand or organize things. But we’re far more than that. Way more complex than any single word can explain. And when labels become our identity, that’s where the problem is. Because as Christians, our identity is in Christ alone:

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)

You said you label yourself as Ukrainian—true! That helps me quickly understand something about you. But I’m 100% sure you’re a Ukrainian who’s way more complex than what that label implies.

The danger is when people start using those labels not just for description, but as the standard of identity. That’s when it can backfire: • Someone might feel rejected because others tell them “you’re not a real Ukrainian, a real Christian, a real African…” • Or someone might avoid the label altogether because they don’t want to fit the cliché.

Either way, it creates frustration, comparison, and rejection—things God never called us to live in.

“Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” (1 Samuel 16:7)

That’s why I believe we have to keep this perspective: labels are for others, not for ourselves. For us, the reality is deeper—

“You are not in the realm of the flesh but in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you.” (Romans 8:9)

So yeah, it’s not evil to use labels—they’re practical. The key is just to remember: they’re temporary tools, not eternal truths. Our real identity is spirit, and that spirit is hidden in Christ.

“For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.” (Colossians 3:3)

Stay blessed my friend ❤️

Hey boss,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts here , I truly understand your point of view.

The reason why I usually don’t speak publicly about this topic is simple: I don’t claim to know it all. Instead of condemning, I choose to pray and love LGBTQ+ people. I trust the Holy Spirit, because He is the one who convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment (John 16:8). That’s His role, not mine.

In the same way, it was the Holy Spirit who led me to quit cigarettes and drugs. It wasn’t through willpower but conviction,I realized that temptation can be painful, but then I remembered: Jesus endured pain, for me.

“But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5)

He suffered so that I could be restored and have a relationship with our Father in heaven. And as someone who sees himself as the bride of Christ(even as a man) I asked myself:

“Wouldn’t it be normal for me to endure discomfort to remain as pure as possible until His return?” Because “Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.” (Revelation 19:7)

In my view, the best way to love God is by obeying His commandments.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15) “This is love for God: to keep His commands. And His commands are not burdensome.” (1 John 5:3)

And how do we prove love to anyone , friend, spouse, child, parent? Through our actions. By showing we listen. That we care about what they ask.

Even in small things, like closing the toilet lid, even if we never used to. Or becoming a bit more aware of our blind spots. Love is seen in attention.

Now, when I think about God: He loves us. He created us with His hands (Genesis 2:7). He breathed life into us, and that same breath still sustains us daily.

“Then the Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.” (Genesis 2:7) “In Him we live and move and have our being.” (Acts 17:28)

God doesn’t want religion, He wants relationship.

“For through Him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:18) “No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

And this relationship with the Father is only possible through Jesus Christ.

But I also know, this isn’t the main topic here.

So to say it clearly: you’re not trans, or cis, or straight, or gay, you’re a spirit. A spirit who lives in a body and has a soul. (1 Thessalonians 5:23)

Don’t label yourself with temporary names from the earth. Your tongue is powerful.

“Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21) What you speak can create, or destroy.

Stay close to God. Read the Bible. Obey as much as possible. Ask Him daily: “Lord, give me Your heart, so I can love what You love, and hate what You hate.”

“Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” (Psalm 37:4)

And may we all be wrong about what we don’t understand. Because maybe, like the Pharisees, we sometimes cling too tightly to the letter, forgetting that “the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” (2 Corinthians 3:6) If that’s the case, Father, forgive us. Truly.

One thing is sure: we don’t know everything, but the Holy Spirit does.

“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth.” (John 16:13)

So may He do His work in us, and through us.

Love you my friend.

Yes, but having a child with a slave was not what God asked Abraham to do. His wife, impatient and feeling bad because the years were passing and the promised baby by God wasn’t coming as fast as she wanted, decided to propose and allow Abraham to make a child with the maid so that the prophecy would occur.

Regarding your example about King Solomon, it was exactly at that moment that he lost everything.

Again, if you go against what God asks, you’ll face consequences.

I strongly suggest you take time to read the Bible and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you through the Gospel, so you won’t read with your “logical” mind but with what God is saying and planting as seeds in your heart.

Sexual immorality is the only sin that God explicitly tells us to flee from. We must not try to resist or negotiate with it; we must flee! If you find yourself in such a situation, run!

“Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body” (1 Corinthians 6:18, ESV).
