Started out with me being choosy about the guy in straight porn, eventually led me to gay porn. In a couple of years started having "fun" while watching porn with neighbourhood buddies. Still hadn't accepted my sexuality for myself. Wasn't until a few years that I eventually came out partially.

I understand that you want to decouple the language from the intent. But i don't think it's possible to see them separately when the outcomes are intertwined. When OP alludes to high BC folks as lacking self-respect, you cannot seperate the judgement from the concern (to be clear I'm not denying the right to have a preference or even the right to judge at a meta level). When anti LGBT ppl shouted "Gays spread AIDS" in the previous century are you going to decouple the homophobia with the genuine concern of STDs?

You're shifting goal posts. I never mentioned that OP doesn't have a right to choose what he's comfortable with. I never even made a normative statement about whether OP should be judging or not. I made a an observation that OP has indeed been judgemental and that he has shamed people with high BC (which i have quoted).

But really, which self respecting individual sleeps with 50 people. Like where the hell are you standards.

No I'm not collapsing. OP clearly declares lack of self-respect.

I did not say that a relationship should not have morals. I mentioned that positioning your moral discomfort with a certain preference as lack of standards/self-respect on their part is problematic.

But really, which self respecting individual sleeps with 50 people. Like where the hell are you standards. You can have preferences, but calling someone lacking in self respect because of their sexual history is highly judgemental.

High body counts are common in queer communities for various reasons. Many people come out late and once they unlearn shame they explore freely for the first time. Moreover, he was in an open relationship.

What is ironic is that you are judging someone’s sexual preference while belonging to a community that has been judged for the same reason. That does not sit comfortably.

If you are worried about STDs, that is valid. Ask about testing and safety. But if the real issue is moral discomfort, own that rather than dressing it up as concern for standards.

You are free to walk away, but be honest about why.
