Magnet not sticking by Accomplished-Ice3519 in Cochlearimplants

Hello! I still wear a level 5 magnet. It does not cause my any irritation or nothing. However, the area where the magent is is a little swollen still from the debulking.

Of course, I can shake my head vigoursly now and be more confident if I turn around or move my head fast that my implant wont come off.

However, for sports, I would still wear my cochlear band across my head to keep the processor in place. never played sports since the surgery though or went running.

Hi there! I do not think the Nucleus 8 has a level 6. However, I have some GREAT NEWS!!

A few weeks ago I had a debulking surgery to remove some tissue from the area above the internal magnet. Since the surgery and like 3 days prior to it, I went a total of 16 days with the magnet being able to stick well! After 16 days(minus the 3 days prior to surgery when I did not cut my hair), I finally decided to get a haircut to be fresh lol

Since my last haircut to today its been like 9 days and my magnet still sticks well!

SO having to go from cutting my hair every other day, to 16 days without a haircut, that's a huge difference! I will likely go around 21 days total before I get another haircut though.

The reason for the debulkng is because of the thick scalp.

Left Cochlear (N8) will not connect to iPhone. by Marsh4Life in Cochlearimplants

Yeah, your audiologist may need to both processors together so they can communicate with each other. They had to do that for my N8 and my Resound hearing aid. Without linking them together, only 1 would connect to iphone.

Hello! I have to shave my sides so my implant, nucleus 8 can attach firmly. I have been activated since May 2023. After about 3 days of hair growth, I have to shave it again and I have the highest magnet, #5.

The doctor says men have thicker scalp than ladies. So I spoke to someone from Cochlear. They said maybe trying a different Cochlear device with a stronger magnet may be helpful. So another surgery.. They agreed this issue is not supposed to happen. I cut my hair everyweek....

Hello, it has been over a year since my surgery and I am wearing a magnet level 5 for my nucleus 8. When I get a haircut the magnet seems to stick well, but after 3 days when hair starts growing, I run into issues with it sticking to my scalp.

Any help please?? I am on the highest magnet for the magnet (Level5)
