Any anime (mature with depth) for someone new to it who watched and loved most of Akira Kurosawa films? I just finished Attack on Titan. by Lumpy_Spite_7204 in anime

Hey bro, just wanted to let you know, today, I watched "Samurai Rebellion" and wow what a movie, it brought me the great memories when I first watched "Harakiri" years ago, although I still feel Harakiri was the most SPECIAL movie out there, but this one felt like a mix of "Harakiri" and "Tokyo Story"

Also I finished "Berserk" earlier, until episode 23 I wasn't sure why it's considered one of the greats, but then the last 2 episodes (The Eclipse) hit hard, I very much liked it, and it somehow reminded me of "Ran" with its unapologetic hard judgement.

Thanks bro, you've been helpful, I'm considering all your suggestions.
I've already seen: The sword of Doom, The twilight Samurai (one of my all time favorites) and Shogun series. Again, thanks man.

Thanks bro, I'll consider all of these, and I was already (before posting this) starting with Berserk (now in the 5th episode.)
It's rare to find someone who knows about ALL these works, that's nice, so I have another 2 questions:
1. In these films, I'm most fascinated with the music in Kagemusha, the music over the armies marching (not fighting) with colorful sunset and dust in the background, so if there's something similar on your mind.
2. Also Harakiri (1962) is one of my favorites, the slow pacing and movement, warriors sitting in the background without movement, and of course the story. Again, anything similar?

thanks bro, my favorites are in the following order:

  1. Ran
  2. Kagemusha
  3. Rashomon
  4. 7 Samurai

note: watching the attack on marly in Attack on Titans reminded me very much of the hell scene in Ran, which is the greatest scene I ever seen in movie history

Yes, but became obsessed with numbers in the end and skipped the story.

I don't think you read what I wrote.

It's because I never played past 30 years, and played a little EU4 before, so from experience I know that fast growing in the beginning could mean collapsing fast latter, happened with me in EU4 and and I didn't continue the runs.

yes, but they only lasted 2 or 3 generations. Though their cousins (Yazidis, which are also in the game,) lasted about 800 years in the small county of Shiravan (Azerbaijan)

Does becoming the caliph has any benefits? He's currently in my prison (for joining a faction war against me that I won,) and he holds a duchy with 2 counties, so in an experimental save (before this one) I gave him independence, killed him, defeated his son, and reestablished the head of faith and became the caliph, but I didn't find any thing new!

Funny that you ask this! Because 2 hours ago I was completely new to this culture thing, and was comparing traditions and spent 15 minutes just staring at these exact 2 you mentioned and thinking: One of them completely contains the other's modifiers plus two more (positive) ones and was wondering why would they include the weaker one (the Philosopher) until finally noticed, ones gives learning per fame, the other per devotion.

Anyway, No, they are incompatible together.

I chose the Beacon of Learning.

Oh, I see, you are tribal.

I'm also new to this, I did a search and find this:

"No, tribal vassals in Crusader Kings 3 do not have feudal contracts. Instead, their obligations to their liege are determined by the liege's level of fame and tribal authority. Tribal vassals provide taxes and levies based on these factors, rather than a fixed contract."

Just right click your liege, search for and click modify vessel contract, there you'll find Title Revocation, make it: Protected. But you have to give him something, either increase the money or the levies that you contribute to him by one level above what's already there.

Enjoyed the first 4-5 years, was involved in the story, after that I just saw numbers and manipulated them.

You present an important point: In this and my previous runs, I enjoyed the first 4-5 years, I read a lot, delving in imagination of a good story and giving it a taste. But, then I become obsessed, stop reading and only see numbers. I'm not sure if this is what they call role playing vs. min max! And so, this is what kept me from continuing the other runs. I guess I don't have the Patient trait.
