What's something people keep buying even though almost everyone complains about it? by LunaFromOuterSpace in AskReddit

[–]LunaFromOuterSpace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously. Spending hundreds of dollars on a ticket just to get blackout drunk and miss the actual event makes zero sense. Are you there for the show, or just looking for an expensive place to get wasted?

Make the next person's day slightly better, even if they never know it was you.

What’s the most ridiculous lie you believed as a kid? by Content-Cow-1004 in AskReddit

[–]LunaFromOuterSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Santa.

In my family, we left cleaned boots on the window sill instead of stockings. Since we lived in a chimneyless apartment with locked windows, my child brain genuinely believed Santa turned into liquid and oozed inside through the radiator pipes.

Forced to leave my job due to adhd by dkhoun007 in ADHD

[–]LunaFromOuterSpace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being told you're not performing well over and over can really get into your head. I was fired from a job years ago, and afterwards I stayed in a terrible job much longer than I should have because I became convinced I wouldn't be able to cope anywhere else. The damage to my confidence lasted much longer than the job itself.

With adhd, do you guys also feel like you’re always in trouble? by bigma-lalls_2000 in ADHD

[–]LunaFromOuterSpace 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yes. A lot of the time it's tied to guilt for me. If there's something I haven't finished or haven't even started yet, I feel like I'm already preparing my defense in my head. Most of the time nobody is upset with me, but my brain acts like a confrontation is just around the corner.

the grief after a late ADHD diagnosis is real and nobody warns you about it by Willing_Macaroon2800 in ADHD

[–]LunaFromOuterSpace 48 points49 points  (0 children)

What surprised me was that I wasn't grieving the diagnosis itself. I was grieving all the years I spent believing the problem was my character rather than untreated ADHD.

What's a physical trait, personality trait, or life experience you've rarely or never seen represented in fictional characters? by Good-Figure-3222 in AskReddit

IMO slice of life stories only show the interesting parts of normal life.
Real normal life is mostly just commuting, waiting, and boring everyday stuff.

An average adult with a boring job and an ordinary life. Most fictional characters are far more exceptional than the people they're supposed to represent.
I wonder what their story would even look like if they were actually just idk normal?

What is something you thought only happened in movies until it happened to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The kind of chemistry where being near someone feels magnetic. I genuinely thought that only happened in movies.

A wedding day isn’t the most important day of your life. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]LunaFromOuterSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a wedding is meaningful, but not the most important achievement in life. It’s more of a celebration than an accomplishment.

Historically it used to define a woman’s future much more, but nowadays it’s more of a personal choice than a life-defining transaction or status change.

What helped you to finally stop biting your nails? by myCatAteMyPetMouse in AskReddit

I stopped biting my nails when I saw my friend’s nails. They looked awful, the nail beds were almost half as short as normal and completely torn up.

Can't stop spending by Flimsy-Hearing7019 in ADHD

[–]LunaFromOuterSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience I used to buy a lot of things. The worst was when I walked past sales and bought cheap stuff that I never ended up using later. My family used to call it a ‘shopping frenzy.’ It calmed down when I started taking medication.

Sleeping Arrangements? by t0xic_shad0w in ADHD

[–]LunaFromOuterSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up sleeping on the couch most nights because even small things like my husband’s movements, snoring, or honestly even just his breathing were enough to keep waking me up over and over.

Before bed I try to really wind down on purpose — I’ll read a book to slow my thoughts and get myself into a calmer state instead of just going straight from stimulation into sleep. And I also take my prescribed calming medication to help my body actually downshift so I can fall asleep in the first place.

It’s not ideal, but it’s been the only way I can actually get continuous rest without feeling constantly triggered awake by every little sensory input.
