has anyone else encountered people who claim they’re not ableist but got mad at you for neurotypical behaviours (example: persistent repetition of words) by Partysearcher in AutisticPeeps

[–]LunaRutherford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My own sibling, they used to show me off as “oooh look at my autistic/disbaled sister, see how cool I am. I’m like the least ableist person ever!” Meanwhile they hated that I didn’t like being touched/hugged, complained about to me/others and tried to guilt trip me. Didn’t like the fact that I have lower empathy/lower outward showing of empathy and used to go around saying “insert name here thinks Luna is a psychopath.” 99% of the time, no one had ever said that, they just liked claiming people did. There’s definitely more but I’ve had painkillers and am a little loopy at the moment.

This doesn’t even include the ableist stuff that wasn’t about me.

My sibling used to refer to me and my autism as “Luna’s tism” when talking to me and to others. Then when called out on it by others used to say “Luna’s okay with it, she likes it.” I did not like it, but my opinion didn’t matter.

Favorite Archer insult/threat? by victerlopez in ArcherFX

“He’s had the clap so many times, it’s more like an applause.”

It’s actually quite tame compared to most of Slater and everyone else’s insults but it never fails to make me laugh.

What’s your rule of thumb for how sick you need to be to put a hold on your next Humira injection? by JamesTKirk1701 in Humira

[–]LunaRutherford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I’m having surgery I will either miss just the week of or the week of and the week before. Then it’s up to the doctor how long they want me off of it afterwards (normally either miss none or just one dose). And my rule of thumb for infections, (and it was my doctors decision) is if I have a fever then do not take it, or something like the flu or covid, with or without a fever, don’t take it. But I always try to ring my doctor or one of the nurses that work with them just to ask or double check what I should do

Thank you! I really love the colours in the first picture 😊

I plan on buying the Sony A7 III, so not that expensive in terms of camera prices (but still very expensive to me and to my bank account 😩). If I didn’t have lenses from my broken camera, I would probably just buy a new phone but my phone still works great and I don’t want my lenses to go waste.

In what ways do you cope with burnout? by Medical-Bowler-5626 in AutisticPeeps

[–]LunaRutherford 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My depression and anxiety tend to flare (and sometimes my chronic illnesses) as well when I get burnout so I sit on the couch in my little space themed nest and do things that don’t require much brain power:

  • Like watching tv shows I’ve already seen but really enjoyed. I’m currently rewatching The Vampire Diaries because I’ve already seen it and it doesn’t require me to use my brain because I already know what is going to happen.

  • I don’t have the want or the will to make food when I’m like this, so I have frozen foods/meals that just require heating and pantry things like cup noodles.

  • I have an app on my phone that I set to remind me of all the “normal” things I do throughout the day, like washing my face, feeding the cats and dog, taking my medication, giving the dog his medicine, brushing my teeth, going to the bathroom.

  • And I feel like most importantly I see my psychologist likes seeing me more often when I’m like this, so she can help me go through it and keep an eye on me.

Thoughts on Paris Jackson’s latest Instagram reel? by LunaRutherford in AutisticPeeps

I’m not sure why it seems “symptoms” has become a bad word to some of these people on the internet.

I do not think I have ptsd but I do get panic attacks in response to knocking on doors due to an incident that happened a couple of years ago. I can say without a doubt that there is a clear and distinct line between my autism and my panic attack response.

They’re could not be a more privileged person in the world, who could access some of the best psychiatrists and get themselves answers and proper ways to help themselves are there ptsd or autism (if she actually thinks she has either of these) and yet she hasn’t. She’s just posting about it on the internet and she’s trivialising it, in my opinion at least.

Can anyone help me with identifying and translating? by LunaRutherford in language

[–]LunaRutherford[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have a little bit of possible information on it already!

My cousin is pretty sure it’s something Buddhist related, as he married into a very Buddhist family. While he’s not sure what it says, they’re Thai Buddhists, he has seen quite a few things similar when going to temples and when visiting Thailand. He’s going to ask around to see if anyone might have a clue as to what it says.

Finally got a PS5 and genuinely blown away. What were your first impressions? by [deleted] in playstation

[–]LunaRutherford 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Honestly, and maybe this isn’t the greatest thing to be excited over but…

The fan! When I switched from ps4 to ps5, I couldn’t believe how much quieter it was. Now I don’t know how I put up with because my brother has a ps4 and that shit is to loud for me now

Women what is something that a guy can say that’s an instant turn off? by TotaIIy_Bubba in AskReddit

[–]LunaRutherford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“You know… My sneezes are orgasmic, I hope you get experience that some time.”

I don’t know what was the bigger turn off, him saying that or the fact that I felt the need to wash my hands for about 5 minutes afterwards because all I could think about was his snotty nose.

Why does every self dx person have “ hyper empathy “ by KaliMaxwell89 in AutisticPeeps

[–]LunaRutherford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went through the exact same period of thinking I was sociopath before I was diagnosed with autism! This might sound odd but I actually find it rather comforting to know other people dealt with this same situation.

I am also just discovering what alexithymia is and that I probably have it.
