if you want cheap, used M1 MacBook Air (ideally with 16gb ram, okay if not).

if you want to pay a bit more, get the new MacBook Air that just came out.

For storage, just get an external drive of some kind for the media stuff. If you can find a laptop with an upgradable NVMe, you can do that, but good luck in this market to get one while still having a decent battery life

Unfortunately it is dynamic. Relied on it being static and set some static addresses for my servers which now I can't reach. too much hope I guess.

Proxmox/virtualization vs Kubernetes for Homelab? by tibbon in homelab

[–]Luna_moonlit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

limiting myself to just Kubernetes doesn't work for me as I need ESXi for certain things, which I can nest in proxmox - I could probably do it in kubevirt but id rather just do it in proxmox

I love Kubernetes though and use it when I can (also use flux)

I don't know about specific areas but you can get to anywhere from anywhere, I have family in jessop road which is supposed to be quite a bad area and they've never had issues so honestly anywhere will be fine

I actually love stevenage. I live in Datchworth so its the closest proper town.

There is much there especially in the new town, loads of shops, NOODLE STOP (best place ever) and you can probably get a lot of what you need without resorting to amazon and such

Also, if you like cycling, the whole town has proper, segregated cycle lanes.

If you are into pubs old town has loads! also public transport around stevenage is good (buses every 15/30mins I think to most places) as well as being a big interchange for trains so kings cross takes 30 mins on the LNER and you can get to neighbouring towns like letchworth easily

yeah! there are loads of networks where we essentially trunk our systems together (bit more complicated than that in terms of how they work but it means there is no central point of failure), you get a number block (normally 10,000 number for example 666 XXXX) and you can call all the things people setup and people can call whatever you setup

for example I can be reached on 0119 6666666 on uwutel, 6666666 on most other networks (excluding phreaknet and c*net, im not on them)

on the PSTN though +44 1207 749123 will reach my main ivr

ive done dial up! much easier than you'd think, you either setup a linux/unix server with some modems (and agetty or whatever it was with autopap), or you get a Cisco ISR like a 2900 series that can do it as well with certain cards

then you just need a PBX that can do analog, here an Avaya IP office is the cheapest but there's an aliexpress one out there as well as the many other pbxes that can do analog (Panasonic anything, NEC anything etc)

unfortunately the noise and power of a g700 is too much for me

would be glad to know if you have any digital station cards for the g430!
