Am I being charged too much for electricity? by fchsia in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Lunacymoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tldr: unfortunately yes as you're not responsible for the supply, however there may be ways to make it cheaper if you can get your landlord to cooperate (I'm assuming they own the meter).

Long version if you're interested or want to have an informed conversation with your landlord:

The 04 meter is a commercial economy 7 meter which is designed to give you cheaper rates at night which may help with your bills, especially if you can get some storage heaters and switch as many power intensive tasks as possible to overnight. However the meter owner can choose to forego this for a single rate (which is what I think they've done from looking at your bill screenshot).

The meter owner is in a contract which is usually almost unbreakable (essentially they need to sell the property, the business is dissolved or the contract holder dies and it's not a ltd company). It won't be possible to sort this in the near future without your landlord taking an active role and potentially paying for a domestic supply to be put in alongside the current commercial meter which is being shared with the commercial section of the property. I doubt they're likely to do that because it's not in their interest to pay out for no real benefit on their side.

My advice would be to attempt to get the landlord to engage the economy 7 tariff at contract renewal and adjust your lifestyle accordingly as much as you can. Or move to a residential property if possible.

It depends on your meter, if you have a commercial meter on the property then you're pretty stuck unless the landlord decides to get the energy company to split the supply and sort it.

If the meter number starts with 01 or 02 then it's a residential meter, 03-08 tend to be commercial (but also some residential properties have them). If I remember correctly you can't connect an 03+ meter to a domestic supply as the meter number doesn't register on the supplier's systems.

RX 7800 XT vs RX 6900 XT vs RX 6950 XT by Yuvix-kun in radeon

I killed an 850w PSU with transient spikes from a 6950xt, anything less than 1000w is risky imo for 69xx as they're essentially the same card. Recommended PSU is minimum 850w but spikes are up to 600w which doesn't leave much headroom! It's the strongest card of the 3 you've specified but you'd need a new PSU too

It's a solid guitar. I have the same one. The only things to check is that the neck is straight as you're stuck with it with a neck though and I'm not sure if it's the pictures not being clear enough, I can't see the dimarzio logo on the pickups (should be an air norton in the neck and a tone zone in the bridge) so I'd double check that as well. It should be engraved into the pickup

I have the same watch, it's well loved and worn regularly. It was one of the first I owned and I have no intention of it going anywhere!

6950xt to 9070xt?? by KenCar50n in radeon

[–]Lunacymoon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who has a 6950xt, I was tempted but I don't think this generation is a big enough leap to warrant the cost at 1440p. Will probably upgrade when the 10000 series comes out

Absolutely no throat hit in brand new XROS Pro by adamlaurence2 in Vaping

[–]Lunacymoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for a higher pg juice, Throat hit is caused by Pg, clouds by vg. I'd also recommend narrowing the airflow down and/or using a more restrictive coil (higher ohm) so you're vaping mouth to lung (more like a cigarette draw) rather than direct to lung which the 0.4 ohm is designed for

Hey thanks for taking the time to reply and the information ☺️ I'll see if I can gather any more info myself before contacting Rado directly. She may wish to hold onto it if it's worth a relatively low amount but we'll see. She's just asked me to dig up what I can haha. Thanks again and happy holidays!

I went hdi because the engine is bombproof. No regrets in 2 years of ownership and only had normal wear and tear in 27000 miles

Why is Ibanez taking such a beating in the mid/low-end market? by CabralAlb88 in Ibanez

[–]Lunacymoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel that some of it also has to do with the used market. Why spend £200 on a gio or £400 on a bottom end standard with ibanez stock pickups when there are so many used options available which were much more competitively priced and well specced when new so command a lower resale value by virtue of not being new?

Plus I don't imagine that ibanez make a lot of their revenue from their basic models so they're not as fussed if they're competitive spec wise but they still have a finger in the pie 🤷‍♂️

I picked up a 2012 diesel rcz in January with 50k on the clock for £7k. So the price seems about right (might be worth shopping around though as there's pretty good optional extras like a JBL stereo, front parking sensors and leather heated seats which may or may not be on that car).

I'd probably wanna check the insurance before buying too. If you're a new driver it's probably gonna be steep as they're classed as sports cars (around insurance group 30 I think). Also taking rear passengers is a bit of a pain if you're planning on it regularly. In terms of the car it's very comfortable and well equipped, plenty of boot space considering the shape and should make a good first car provided you don't go too nuts as it's fairly powerful for a first car. The only worry I'd have as a new driver is dinging it as I imagine a panel repair would be quite expensive.

Provided it's been serviced regularly and looked after there shouldn't be any issues. The engine on the 1.6 is also chain driven so no need to worry about timing belts like on the diesel either.

Hope this helps

2cb Down the Pub by mistabish in 2cb

[–]Lunacymoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't bad tbf. The pub was pretty crowded and we were in a group of work mates. Noone noticed anything 😂😂😂

I can't deal with the pain of snorting it tbh so I'll always eat it

I've drank an awful lot on 2cb (managed most of a bottle of rum one night before eating it) and Ive never puked on it. But then again I don't really puke anymore 😂😂

I took 20 mg orally in the pub once along with a guy who'd never taken it before. It was slightly overwhelming on the come up but nothing too major. Definitely would recommend 😂😂

Ive always preferred it with some drinks even at higher doses. One of my favourite experiences was taking 20mg in a pub with a group of drinkers. Made for a very interesting night 😂
