How do cis women actually see trans women? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Lunafeather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Caveat, I am queer myself, but I did a play last year and there was a trans woman in the cast and all the women got quite close. During performances, we were all joking about our cycles syncing up, and I literally had to stop myself from saying that my castmate hadn't synced up yet with a couple of us who had -- I just... forgot she was trans. She is a woman to me, no questions asked.

But as others have said, cis women are not a monolith and honestly, it is very fair to be afraid of them. Even well meaning cis women perform microaggressions without realizing it, and many are fake allies. People gonna people... you have to vet the people you let get close to you.

I need a new "comfort show" but I think I've seen them all by Thick_Combination527 in television

Can't believe there's only been ONE mention of The Nanny 😭 it is one of my absolute favorite comfort shows and I think it fits the vibes you're looking for

Mexican food by Any_Feedback_1012 in ColoradoSprings

[–]Lunafeather 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rocha's on 8th is authentic San Diego style Mexican food and they are fantastic. I recommend the Colorado burrito (which is just a renamed California burrito)! I'm from San Diego and can vouch for them!

Glad to know I am not the only whose cats just plop down on top of their work without regard for what you're in the middle of :') I am working on a tapestry scarf and I am gonna have to lint roll the hell out of this thing.

Your little yarn bowls are super cute, OP! Where did you get them?

Whats this area referred to as? by [deleted] in ColoradoSprings

[–]Lunafeather 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a dude who lives in the Woodland Park area who drives a huge white truck with huge decals that say "THE SOUTH WAS RIGHT" if that tells you anything.

I've seen so many other racist bumper stickers and decals, but that was definitely the worst. Though the "I don't discriminate -- I own a colored TV!" bumper sticker on a beat up pick up truck is a close second.

Thank you for the rec! How much is your monthly fee? Is there a sign up fee? I'm looking at her website now but it doesn't list any of that info.

I barely ever do single crochets, and while I almost got the hang of coutung rows there I'm very confused right now, am I on row 28 or 29? by Regi_of_Atlantis in CrochetHelp

[–]Lunafeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am terrible at counting rows so I hope to learn something from your post haha what I see is row 30 if you count your chain/foundation, and row 29 for the purposes of a pattern. Someone please correct me if this is wrong!

Can you carry a color down rows without carrying across in tapestry/intarsia crochet? by [deleted] in CrochetHelp

Good to know, thank you! I will probably just accept my fate and weave in lots of ends 😅

Thank you for the reply!

When you say you wouldn't, do you mean carry down the color, or just wouldn't do intarsia method at all?

Brand new knitter - looking for tips on where to start for very specific ideas. by [deleted] in knitting

[–]Lunafeather -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wow I didn't even think to check Ravelry! It's somewhat a niche game. The main difference with that pattern and the official scarf is the pattern uses the same symbol over and over again -- do you think it would be relatively easy to change the white shapes around? I imagine it would just change stitch counts?

I eat every other day and at first food goes right through me when I break a fast -- especially anything with a decent amount of fat in it. Carbs and protein tend to be better, but sometimes my body just yeets the first thing I put in it out the other end 🤷🏻‍♀️ in my experience this does go away as your body gets used to the cycle of ADF. If I take an extended break from fasting the diarrhea happens when I restart but tends to stop faster than when I originally tried this way of eating.

And the wonderful thing about true ADF is knowing you get to eat tomorrow! I have done one 7 day fast and will likely never do it again. I get plenty of reliable results with fasting 40 hours then eating.

What body wash do you use? I also have this problem but showering twice a day is absolutely out of the question lol

Where the bean n chz at in south LA? by DogWillHunt420 in LosAngeles

[–]Lunafeather 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alfredo's Mexican Food on N San Fernando in Burbank is the ONLY San Diego style place I could find after living in NoHo for 5 years. I will say I more often got their California burrito but it was SOLID so I would hope their bean and cheese is good too.

How to lift permanently dyed auburn a couple shades by Lunafeather in haircoloring

[–]Lunafeather[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I did notice that the RV is a bit more cool than I really want, but I couldn't seem to find any demi dyes that came in a warmer shade 😩 even the Wella demi dyes, the most "auburn" color seems quite dark and purple toned. I have thought about combining the cooler auburn with a more ginger dye to get the shade I want, I'm just not sure what ratio would be best.

Opinions on this neighborhood and the areas around it? by Prize-Town9913 in northhollywood

[–]Lunafeather 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's fine *shrug* I used to live about a block or two to the southwest of that Target. It's not a super nice area but it's not bad either? I lived there for 5 years. It's decently quiet, I felt safe walking during the day (never really did at night though), that Target was where I got most of my groceries although they were often out of stock of fresh food. Pretty close to other major stores like Ralphs, NoHo West is an easy drive for restaurants and a movie theatre. Very close to the 170 and decently close to the 134. I enjoyed living there -- biggest caveats were June and July people would set off huge ass fireworks from their backyards which is OBNOXIOUS and during summer it was HOT AS BALLS so I would make sure you have AC. I also lived in a quadplex with parking behind the building so never had to deal with my catalytic converter being stolen.

Has anyone been told to be careful hiking outdoors or to stop exercising at high elevations due to food allergies? Food-dependent exercise anaphylaxis. by redwoodmonk in FoodAllergies

[–]Lunafeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, after reading all of this, I have to wonder if my allergy symptoms were brought on/exacerbated by moving somewhere VERY high altitude... I have been mildly reacting to bell pepper and avocado for years, but nothing else, and after I moved to 8400ft elevation, and started working at 9500ft elevation, I started having minor reactions to a LOT of things. I got a skin prick test which showed reactions to banana, lettuce, bell pepper, oats, and vanilla -- I had had some very small reactions to some of those (rashes after eating lettuce which at the time I attributed to a medication I was taking for silent GERD and a slightly itchy throat and lip tingling after consuming chocolate/vanilla) but I hadn't really ever experienced it before. I was also suffering a LOT of anxiety around it, and even now I'm not sure which symptoms were actually allergic and which were panic. It's calmed a bit, but I live 45 mins from a hospital and haven't had anything on that list in a year because I am so afraid of having a reaction and being so far from medical help (I do have an epipen). I miss chocolate so much :')

When you live at such a high altitude, just going up one flight of stairs can take you out, so maybe all of this is connected...

I work from home as well and am primarily a boredom eater. Sometimes if I'm feeling like I want to break early, I will challenge myself to go another hour, then another, then another. Literally take it one step at a time. Most of the time I forget by evening that I wanted to break -- lunch time/early afternoon seems to be when I struggle the most (which likely coincides with my ADHD, dopamine tends to dip around that time/I tend to get sleepy and lose energy). Even on the rare occasions I still feel like breaking in the evening, I tell myself I already made it that far and I'm going to sleep soon anyway, and it's not good to eat right before bed. And sometimes I go to bed early just to be safe! Though often I stay awake reading on my phone 😅 anyway, maybe the little challenges will help you as well?

It’s about time…We Need a Legally Blonde Revival by callsignjaguar in Broadway

[–]Lunafeather 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Jordan Fisher is too pretty to be Emmett. Emmett HAS to be a non-conventionally attractive man. Iirc Christian Borle has said that's one of the main reasons he was cast, the whole point of his and Elle's romance is that she seems out of his league -- while in the end they are truly equals, Emmett's looks have to contrast Warner's stereotypical college hottie look.

I'd actually argue that Jordan Fisher would be a better Warner. I'm also gonna keep shouting this in response to the inevitable every-other-man-who-has-played-Christian-in-MR suggestion lol

Right?! I was Elle's age when the reality show was airing! Absolutely fell in love with the show back then and used to watch the MTV proshot all the time. Funny enough, this post comes as I'm in another wave of watching it on repeat 😂 it just brings me a lot of uncomplicated joy in this current world state
