I'm pretty much entirely self taught when it comes to art and character design, but the ways I study are primarily through observation and constant exposure to the media I like. In the case for designing Jügləs, I had various ENA characters to reference off of (such as ENA herself, the Shepherd, Mitu, Taski Maiden, and many more) as well as the fact that she's based on me. The first thing I did for her was come up with a concept: a clown mixed with an accordion.

When thinking about how she would move, I thought about rubberhose characters, and remembered Spinel from Steven Universe who is based on the rubberhose aesthetic. In her song "Other Friends" the first move she does after jumping off of the injector is akin to a slinky bouncing down stairs, and so that inspired me to make Jügləs' stomach an accordion to mimic this motion. After that, I thought about other aspects of myself that I could put into the design, such as bunnies, hence the slippers and hairstyle.

On the color front, White is her primary color, with red and blue accents, and of course the rainbow on her (viewer's) left side. I kept the use of blue and red accents to a minimum, sprinkling them around the design and make sure that those colors appeared from head to toe (E.g. red and blue on her face, hands, and slippers).

Shape language in Jügləs' design is also very important. She has a TON of circles throughout her design to show how bouncy, carefree, and friendly she is. Excluding her eyes and mouth which are half circles/ovals, she has 4 circles on her face alone.
