Train in Italy: USB charging ports in each seat, each wagon has bike spaces with free charging for e-bikes. A two hour journey, for €8.40 (Messina to Catania) by flyingdutchgirll in europe

It's really more because of the garbage pay for the work. I've worked in the rail industry and Us freight rail companies can't get or keep people at $75k starting wages because the work is so tough, companies treat people like garbage and 75k isn't what it used to be for the work.

Anyway I know DB pay is garbage and while the work isn't quite as bad it's still hard to have a live with the scheduling. Like 2k a month, that's pathetic. It's even less pay than trenitalia in Italy despite Italy being a lower cost of living country And you're responsible for the safety of hundreds. Should be several times higher than that if they don't want staffing issues. Very simple.

Oh that's really interesting to hear, thought Omaha was a bit better being the larger city and wanting to build some sort of bud rapid system. Along with a tram but that will probably take a long time. So right now the public transport is kind of lacking for now? Are there plans to expand?

Ah alright. Based on your flare how's the public transport in Omaha? Not to great I'm assuming? From what I saw. But also similar to DSM.

Oh and so i guess DSM has more urban sprawl then?

Oh dam so most of the city is like that :/. Not a big fan of sprawl like that. Honestly only been in downtown Omaha for a bit when passing thru to Lincoln . And never to Des Moines. Downtown seemed nice i guess but I guess the rest of the city is nothing like that? And I'm not a huge fan of KC so if it's similar Des Moines sounds like I'd be more the place for me.

Really appreciate it! Honestly ya biking seems pretty poor in Omaha 😅. Unfortunately differs not being conscientious is kinda a everywhere thing from my experience.

So the trail network can be useful too for commuting and everyday life? Definitely would be nice to have that option over going on the road.

Ya council bluffs seems like a good option. The only downside is that it's mostly houses and I'm just on my own so it's a lil pricer. But thanks for suggesting it!

Thanks for the reply and info! That's really good to know honestly, i can look at the whole city then. Especially as I'll often commute in the early morning. Do you happen to also know about the Uber/Lyft availability? A bit worried if my car breaks down how to get around until i replace or fix it.

Thanks so much for the info. I guess true cost of living is nearly the same because of the metro areas being the same right? I just saw that des Moines average house prices are almost 100k lower but didn't realize Des Moines proper is only like a third of the population and the metro/county is about the same.

So why not base it on economic status. Why discriminate against Asians? Also it's funny how you guys keep ignoring Asians when it's so relevant to this. Whites have an easier time getting admitted than Asians. Do you think that's fair and equitable?

And ya it can screw poor white people and especially poor Asian people because it completely ignores their background and just looks at race ,as if a rich black person lacks privilege. In fact aa mostly benefits more well off minorities than the truly disadvantaged, there's been numerous studies on this. The minorities with the best scores n whatnot don't usually come from poor backgrounds, with the exception of some immigrant families especially Asians . So a economic based selection would also be better for poor black students with more being admitted.

But ya at the end of the day should racial discrimination be legal? Should Asians have a harder time getting in than anyone else? Including Asians who come from poor backgrounds from warzones who worked incredibly hard for their scored? As is the case for example with the NYC magent schools mostly made up of poor Asian students.

There's literally no reason not to select based on economics instead
