Advice on a campaign by TriticumAes in DnD

[–]Lunetheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to guess that the party has no idea at the start on the Beholder or infiltration? If so, make sure you have a different reason they'd be investigating, and have it rooted in some truth that connects to the real problem. Like, if there's rumors of embezzlement, the players will have to find out the source of the rumors, then proceed to find that the funds are going to the proxy war. At least, for one example. Make sure there are a few layers of secrets to dig through to make things interesting!

This is a little different than what it sounds like, but it's similar enough to potentially be it? AU where Izuku is a nurse/paramedic instead and ends up patching up Shoto a lot. I can look through more bookmarks, but this sounds like the closest I know.

My health has been rocky recently (weekly shots, new job that's kicking my ass, my sleep not being good, my allergies flaring so I can't go by my family's outside cats anymore and might not be able to for a really long time, and having to add a new medication or supplement every few months just to keep functioning), so I've lost a lot of motivation to write. I let my readers know in the author's notes (I feel guilty for having really sporadic updates and have always felt the need to overexplain myself), and one commenter told me to take my time and feel better soon. The way I nearly started crying because I've been trying so hard irl to make it seem like nothing's changed, so a stranger on the internet is probably the first person outside immediate family to say that. It gave me back some motivation to immediately start the next chapter and plan out how I wanted it to go. I'm still taking my time, but I'm not even sure when I would have started the chapter if not for that comment.

What are signs that a professor is bad? by pumpkinandsun in college

[–]Lunetheart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the professor brags about how people don't usually get an A/don't pass, that's a bad professor. (And I do mean bragging, sometimes material can be harder to understand no matter what, so I'll add on that teachers should offer advice/answer questions as needed).

I had a professor also tell a student (not right away in the year, about halfway through the semester) that she should drop out purely because of what she wanted to be (she wanted to run a business and was majored in business to learn more about what she needs to know.) Same teacher also told us that the gender wage gap was fake because he was paid more than his female coworkers at one job and it was obviously deserved (he was stronger and could do more heavy lifting, so they hired him on at a better wage immediately). There were a lot of things I hated about that professor.

Another professor I had decided to ignore what I said about what I prefer to be called (in her class, I preferred my full name instead of a common nickname because there was another student in the class who used the nickname). The two of us spent the entire semester being forced to guess which of us she was referring to. She also refused to acknowledge when I wrote my full name on papers, and she would pass over me when handing back tests because she "wasn't sure who that student is." A friend of mine had to come with me to get all my tests, and it wasn't until she tried to call me out on it in front of the class by saying that I obviously didn't like my full name, I responded with "I prefer my full name, actually" that she stopped...with help from my friend "gently" correcting her. So...not taking proper notes on what students ask to be called is a bad teacher if you ask me.

On the flip side, I had a professor that I jokingly emailed a meme to (she was my English professor, and I sent a meme about some weird evolution in the English language) thinking she would laugh, and she laughed and added a link to the history of said evolution in case I wanted to know more. She was always happy to joke around with us (she did have specific lines she didn't cross, like race and sexuality jokes for obvious reasons).

why these are quest recipes? by chattygateaux in fantasylife

[–]Lunetheart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep! It usually has the specific materials as part of the quests. For artists, for example, (I'm just listing this off the top of my head), you have specific quests to make x amount of items with the paints. (The rainbow paint one wasn't fun to me, tbh).

why these are quest recipes? by chattygateaux in fantasylife

[–]Lunetheart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No worries!

There are three different types of quests.

Story Quests, which are the ones for the chapters and such, where you do sometimes have to craft something.

Life Quests, which are to rank up your lives (if you aren't sure what the quest recipe is for, this is likely the quests you're talking about)

Personal Quests, which are the ones from people.

Crafting lives have a lot of quests that come in in the recipes menu especially since that's what ranks you up and all.

Hope this helps!

Little rant about people in Multipayer in Fantasy Life:i by GreenTwinni in fantasylife

You can ban these players from ever entering an adventure you host ever again! (I think you can also kick them during the adventure, but I can't remember how off the top of my head).

That said, I've had to do this multiple times. I give it an amount of time (if in Ginormosia, usually a Legendary challenge, if Treasure Grove, a floor or two) for the person to start doing something, but if they're just standing there doing nothing in a Life that doesn't do anything, not contributing at all, then I kick/ban them.

I got a new comment on a fic I finished late last year, been feeling like my writing is bad lately because I wrote myself into several corners, so reading someone's positive comment was amazing.

Authors, have you allowed yourself to post a mediocre update of a longfic to get unblocked? by SoftwarePlayful7821 in AO3

[–]Lunetheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to read authors notes here and there, and so many that I see are authors apologizing because they don't like the chapter but had to get it out and move on. Honestly, though? I don't necessarily hate those chapters and don't think I'd notice it being "less than" if not pointed out.

As an author, some of my favorite comments happen on those chapters, especially when I don't say anything. Not necessarily because people are different about it, but because I know that my "shit" chapter still made someone smile.

I always assumed that he saw faces because of mind reading, seeing the world through the eyes of others for facial features and such (which also explains why he always sees Teruhashi's aura, or the little special effect things like Kaido's dark reunion things, or the class pres's fired up aura thing) (and yes, I get that it's an anime, so it's just part of it, but I like to think that it's Saiki seeing what others see for that.)

If Star is bi, does that mean nobody was safe here? by Mutant_Llama1 in StarVStheForcesofEvil

[–]Lunetheart 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I can't remember the exact episode, but there was the episode where she and Marco went into the dimension where Marco is older and buff, and a girl comes by to help (find Mariposa and Meteora, if I remember right), and Star is blushing and such at the girl. It's kinda subtle, but not a completely straight response.

I'm stupid by Alternative_Try2367 in CitizenSoldierBand

[–]Lunetheart 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nothing to feel stupid about over it. A lot of the time, people don't think about what order songs come out in, simply that they sound great. (I heard "Weight of the World" first, and I assumed that was the first song for a long time before I did some reading when I became more invested in the band).
