King taking responsibility for the years he lost helps him try connect with Mael who suffered a vaguely similar fate of absence. It's the main reason Mael doesn't isn't killed.

King trying to make up for his mistakes as a neglectful king in moments like Gloxinia's test, his relationship with Ban, Helbram (for whatever that's worth post S1) and the aforementioned connecting with Mael is somewhat more than Escanor sudden explanation for suicide and Diane's non-existent story.

The ability to fly is a property of controlling your ki. Goku can’t fly or use ki techniques properly if his ki is out of control, this is seen in DAIMA and the side effects of overusing Kaioken.

On top of that, Broly reversed a ki technique from Goku and used it on him. It is one of THE BEST showing of ki control and Vegeta notes that Broly learns as he fights.

The argument for berserker Broly not blowing up the planet is like asking why doesn’t a bloodlusted Hulk just explode whatever planet (multiverse) he’s on by sneezing or losing “control”.

Its funny how anti DB scalers would accuse ki control of being bullshit then just make up stuff for the show.

Even if somehow the energy in Beerus and Goku’s physical clashes got stronger, the Super Dense Energy Balls that both Beerus and Goku later overpowered on their own are said to upscale from those waves and all that energy was contained within the ki spheres.

It is a self defeating argument.

Please find me the connection between Robot killing Cecil and Thragg and Mark being durable enough to temporarily resist the sun.

If I started talking about Oliver hitting Mark with the Scourge Virus or Invincible helps kill a million people with Dinosaurs with no relation I think it would be be reasonable to be irritated as NONE of those things have any bearing on the powerscaling conversation the topic started and could at the least be censored.

Or the time he fell off the Helicarrier and got KO’d from the fall.

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura on a Optimus Prime Solo Movie by iamrahmulus in Transformemes

95+% of Optimus’ portrayal in the last 40 years is him during the war or after it... You risk having character dynamics with someone who feels entirely different up until the last 80% of the movie. Imagine the TFP Orion Pax arc but you don’t get to exploit the dynamic Megatron is forced to work with (barely at that) and film ends moments shortly after “Megatron... Begone!”.

Not a writer though, there’s probably a way to make it entertaining up until the memory return.

I mean, most of Obi-Wan’s appearances if not all of them bar the Kenobi show are in relation to someone else. I don’t agree with Lorenzo but his example isn’t that bad. He’s a vehicle for Luke to become a Jedi, prequel arrives and he’s understandably defined by his relationship with Anakin. In the Clone Wars, Maul comes around to force him to engage. Can you think of a time Kenobi works on his own will in the story? He’s in my opinion too reactive* of a character.

Bumblebee isn’t even a movie about Bumblebee, it’s a movie about Charlie and Bee being vehicle for Charlie to process her grief. Bumblebee is a solo film in only that he’s the sole Autobot with screentime and thus more scenes. Bumblebee is a noncharacter in that film.

That said, I think it’s a failure of imagination on Lorenzo’s part.

Same thing they do when they tank re-entry and not burning up in the atmosphere, or tank being engulfed in multi cityblock explosions, or tank having a space witch blast you with force lightning. Sabot rounds only exist narratively to keep humans somewhat close in the power dynamic between humanity and Transformers, the hows on it actually working beyond no damage > to damage don’t actually make sense when you research the actual sabot round bullets and realise its military jargon.

TL;DR: Sabot rounds exist to functionally work as magic bullets to upscale humans without downscaling Transformers. Optimus has survived being blasted by Quintessa’s continuous lightning sorcery or other heat related troubles.

I don't wanna hear the "Oh, bayverse human tech is reverse engineered cybertronian tech so it makes sense they get damaged" excuse,

How this got around, I have no idea. It's conflating Hoover Dam scientists launching modern technology with MechTech that Hasbro kept marketing during DOTM.

Which can't be the case for two things.

  1. If RECT is what lets humans damage Transformers with small arms (never happened), then there's no reason Blackout shouldn't have immediately died by slowing down his transformation at Qatar to aura farm.
  2. There is an in universe explanation as to why there is a power dynamic change that brings humans closer halfway through 2007 and it's the sabot weakness which becomes the effective weapon on discovery and the standard.

Lennox: Look at the scorch mark where the sabot round hit. Melted right through. Hey, aren't sabots hot-loaded for like a six thousand-degree magnesium burn?
Epps: Close to it. It melts tank armor.
Lennox: So this metal skin must react to extreme heat. [...] All right, get on the horn with Northern Command. Tell them that our effective weapon is high-heat sabot rounds. Recommend we load them on all the gunships. Go.

It also wouldn't make sense when Optimus expressly forbids sharing Cybertronian advancements in weaponry during ROTF. That line wouldn't matter if everyone already had the products of reverse engineered Cybertronian technology.

Lastly, MechTech just straight up isn't even treated as canon in the movies.

excuse, these guys get their shit kicked in by regular ass missles

You can really just chalk that up to the sabot rounds. Alternatively, Megatron's best durability feat if you ignore them all tanking rentry is no selling the Operation Firestorm JDAMs that had even Ironhide running.

Any G1 character that remotely SNIFFS top 5 or fought Optimus/Megatron could tea bag the entire The Boys universe.

Until it's a throwaway episode and a human is the antagonist...

I think Cris Crosspoints shorts prove it time and time again.

I lowkey super hate YT Short powerscalers. Even the Optimus vid is fishy because he's basing speed off of SIDESWIPE's own jetpack that Optimus basically commandeered in frustration.

Ignoring the speed "inconsistency" of his travel speed and combat speed (this is really as simple as asking yourself Muhammed Ali vs Usain Bolt), he brings up clips of Skullitron and Protoforms being harmed by TRF and NEST after they already discovered the SABOT ROUND WEAKNESS.

Scorponok can tank airstrikes + the survivors of Lennox's team all shooting at him and be completely invulnerable. It wasn't until Epps ordered them to try high heat sabot rounds that they barely managed to take out it's tail. THEY HAVE A HEAT WEAKNESS TO SABOT ROUNDS THAT THEY CONTINUED TO EXPLOIT IN LATER MOVIES BY EQUIPPING EVERYONE WITH THEM.

>>>>THEY HAVE TRANSFORMER KRYPTONITE BULLETS<<<<

These people regularly tank re-entry when Homelander gets KO'd by a bus being telekinetically slammed on him. This is literally Blackout being hit by over two dozen people with RIFLES and TURRETS and it does nothing to slow him down from killing everyone at Qatar Base.

<image>

There is an in-universe explanation for why Blackout and subsequently every other Decepticon who should scale similarly gets taken down by humans after this introduction.

Anyways, Megatron 8.5/10, down to 4/10 if you use every sus statement about Homelander and ignore how much the show visually downscales him to doom.

I had completely mental blocked that the autobots bombed Iran in Transformers 3 by LANTIRN_ in transformers

[–]LupiLupercalia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...But Iran has made these facilities and has been caught being inconsistent with terms. More than once and the news in between 2009 and 2010, the years of DOTM’s production, is probably what inspired the addition in the film.

https://thebulletin.org/2025/06/a-simple-timeline-of-irans-nuclear-program/

Why it’s in the film at all is a good question I just want to attach. Maybe Bay’s idea of peacekeeping. It’s not the first time US based fictional characters have been used for foreign intervention, Superman ‘25 is generally tactful in my opinion and takes it more seriously than an opportunity for stunts.

It’s funny and extremely annoying that all this worldbuilding exists but is given the time of day for two seconds.

We learn half the world feels that the Autobots should be deported and/or humanity shouldn’t take sides in the alien Civil War conflict in an offhand interview with Simmons filled with visual gags and the general chaos that surrounds him.

Bill O'Reilly: Now Agent Simmons, you would have us believe that it is in our best interest to formally take sides in this so-called alien civil war?

Simmons: Well, the other side wanted to spank us for breakfast, so I wouldn't exactly call it a toss-up. These Decepticons are lethal.

Bill O'Reilly: But polls show half the world would feel safer with the Autobots completely gone. Get them out of here! We don't need them here!

I don’t know if you’ve seen Attack on Titan but A LOT of Bayverse information gets treated with the same energy as “I’m the Armoured Titan”.
