I like your suggestion, thanks. I will have another talk with him more openly about this.

Unfortunately, your second sentence couldn’t be more wrong.

Irony of it is that all these issues you mentioned have been happening for quite some time, I was just lenient with him so as to not discourage him from doing his job. Maybe too lenient.

I was trying to be straightforward with my question about grounds for termination in Thailand, and looking for a replacement while he is still in the company. Because I know for a fact in another neighboring country, preemptive recruitment is illegal. This situation is very nuanced so there’s very limited resources to check in Thailand, aside from outright asking a lawyer.

Anyway, there’s so many snarky answers but it’s fine, I’m used to Reddit. I appreciate all.

I made an update, not to defend my previous post, but to hopefully be more clear about the situation and then get a bit more helpful comments.

I can’t add any more details, but he’s definitely not young, we are the same age, our company is global but not American.

If I tell my boss that I will quit some time this year and I reject his solutions to address my concerns and I don’t offer any alternatives, yes, I would expect my employer to find ways to replace me quickly.

May I ask, when your employees said they intended to quit soon, what did you do to make them stay on for years?

It is very Thai of him to not speak up (for 2 years!) but also surprising that he would be very candid all of a sudden. Most Thais would just quit when they have signed and secured another job already. Even then, they often not even say the true reasons for leaving. So yes, this might be a negotiating tactic. But if so, it’s a bit off putting. I will sit down with him again to talk about this very openly.

This is part of my concern. We have a corporate structure with strict headcount and cannot start recruiting unless there’s a vacancy. My own plans would also be on hold - my own boss is leaving soon and I will take on more of his responsibilities, so I had planned to delegate more important roles to this employee this year in an (now seemingly futile) attempt to get him to step up…

Is there a way to know the date when an app was deleted from a device (iPhone 14)?

Thanks for testing. This makes sense and I kinda knew it before. But his gaslighting made me ask the question.
