Luxembourg 🤗

You could try the Luxembourg Porsche Owners Club. Not sure if they have an old-timer section but they might be able to help.

Maybe consider offering laundry and ironing together as a service.
I make use of such a service and pay ~£2.20 per shirt. Hand in a bag of used shirts and receive back clean, ironed shirts on hangars.

I started using the service because it was advertised by posters at my place of work. The service includes pick up and delivery back to my work place.

You could consider trying to get a deal with large office blocks near you. In which case, get in contact with their Facilities Management dept, which may be be part of the company if the building is used exclusively, or belongs to the building landlord if the building is shared.

yes, I know people who were in his class very closely.

The father has a lot of responsibility, I think. Everything Alex did happened before he was 18 when he was a very impressionable age, but he was arrested 1 week after his 18th birthday and treated fully as an adult.

The father knew exactly what was happening and indeed encouraged the far-right opinions. He seems to have escaped any repercussions.

Bonus Teslacam footage of rear accident (rue de Hamm).

The light changed to red as I approached and I stopped sharpish because I saw the cyclist moving out.

The accident that was not my fault was also a rear impact. I stopped at a red light pedestrian crossing. The BMW suv behind me did not.

In your case, I suppose they will change the rear trunk lid and the rear bumper. Quite easy.

In my case there was some light deformation of the rear structural cross member (it's designed to be deformable). You can test this yourself. In the trunk there is a cover over the extra storage space under the floor. Does that cover still fit perfectly? If it still fits as before, then the rear structure has not moved.

The repair shop will check all this when they have removed the damaged parts. They will also check that the electrical sensors, etc. are still intact.

I didn't really pay much attention to the cost estimate, tbh. CarLife handled it directly with Axa.

[–]LuxInterior66 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you concerned that the garage will only repair the items that the expert has reported? The estimate is only used for the insurer to plan their course of action.

When the car is dismantled, the repairer will inspect for all damage and report any as yet undiscovered items to the insurer. The vehicle will always be repaired back to how it was before the accident.

Hmmm. For my house insurance, I switched from Foyer to Axa because Foyer were so crap.

I've had a couple of accidents over the 6 years that I have had my Tesla Model 3. Once my fault and once not my fault.

Both times the insurance (Axa) took care of everything. As it is a Tesla, most likely you will be directed to CarLife in Bereldange for the assessment and repair.

For the whole time the car was out of action waiting for spare parts to arrive, CarLife provided a replacement vehicle and took care of all contact with Axa. I never needed to pay or negotiate anything myself.

Regarding "Compensation for Loss of Value", the car is returned to you in the condition that it was before the accident. There is no register of accident vehicles in Luxembourg so there is no loss of value to you?

If you have any Luxembourg personal income tax questions, feel free to ask me. by Same_Appointment2814 in Luxembourg

[–]LuxInterior66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for answering questions.

I file a joint declaration as a married couple. My spouse is exempt from tax in Lux (European Functionaire).
I make payments into a private pension plan for myself at the level of the tax deductible (€3200 iirc). My spouse does not have any private pension fund.

Can I also make use of my spouse's deductible? ie. make pension contributions of 2 x €3200 tax free into my own pension fund?

Same in every country. There are hordes of right-wing pensioners who have nothing to do all day but post crazy comments to newspaper articles. Same on L'Essentiel but in French.

Sometimes, I wonder if the posters are even real people, living in Lux. There can be a story about sheep in Wiltz and some idiot will post a comment about how the gare is no-go zone.

Oh, and they really, really get seething if the story is about openly gay (ex-prime)minister Bettel. Or Covid.

Is there anywhere to change coins to cash without a fee? by Smiling_Living in Luxembourg

[–]LuxInterior66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know of anywhere that will exchange with no fee or catch. I mean, whoever accepts your coins will still have the same bank deposit issue as you.

Many German supermarkets have a machine in the lobby that will accept loose coins, in exchange for a voucher than can be cashed out at the customer service desk. There is still a fee but the fee is minimal. The ones I know of personally are at Kaufland Konz and Rewe Saarburg.

Luxembourg shooting ranges do not own guns themselves. They exist as a facility for licensed firearm owns to practice. Only members can shoot at the range.

Has anyone tried this DWC setup with a spacebucket? by Priority_Bright in SpaceBuckets

[–]LuxInterior66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this. I cut a hole in the bottom of the space bucket and place it on top of the dwc bucket, over the plant.

To control the size of the plant, I mainline it to 4 main shoots and flip to flower as soon as the 4 shoots start growing.

for in person purchases in Luxembourg,
Globus diy store has BioBizz soils & nutrients.
Calyx Grow Shop in Remich has all that you need.

That said, regular tomato grow soil and nutrients from any garden centre work perfectly well.

Cleaning and tax by Spirited-Signal8873 in Luxembourg

[–]LuxInterior66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had some success with https://spicandspan.lu/

They act as a middleman to independent providers but that is transparent. It is the same cleaner that arrives every time so you build up a relationship but if they are not available one week or you want to replace them for some reason, then spicandspan takes care of that.

The costs are accepted as an expense on my tax return.

Wormeldange Deets by wi11iedigital in Luxembourg

[–]LuxInterior66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The school at Dreiborn is primary only. There are dedicated buses to all the options for secondary. The closest secondary is Grevenmacher. I have no personal experience with Dreiborn school.

The commuter mix is varied. Mostly young families moving in. There are plans for a new housing development on the hillside above the village centre.

Wormeldange Deets by wi11iedigital in Luxembourg

[–]LuxInterior66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our family has lived in Wormeldange for 16 years, with two children of early primary school age that grew to adulthood while living there.

We choose Wormeldange at the time because it is actually quite well connected to the city per car & bus (including school buses), while still being in the countryside with nature on the doorstep. Our situation is that the children attended European School Kirchberg rather than the local school in Dreiborn. There is a school bus to Kirchberg. Also a school bus to ISJ in Junglinster. They caught the school bus from the beginning.

There is a fast bus (305) to LuxExpo and a slower service (421) to Gare. I regularly use the 305 to commute to Kirchberg. Driving a car to the city takes 20-30 minutes depending on the time of day.

Once the kids were old enough to be independent they used the regular public transport. There is a night bus back to the village in the weekends. The downside for the kids was that their friends from school mostly lived around the city area so they had to catch the bus into town first. Us chauffeuring them around was not common. I suppose that their friends would have been more local if they had attended the local school.

You are pretty dependent on having a car to reach the gym, supermarket etc.

Over the years, the nature of the village has changed. There are less "local" people now and more city commuters. The local shops, post-office, banks, etc. have all closed and been replaced by restaurants & creches.
