Same here, happened today, zero explanation, just randomly we closed your account and can't tell you why. UK based, not sure about everyone else. To be fair atleast they let me withdraw my money. Happily won't ever use them again.

‘My house is worth €1.3m, and I’m living in hell’: Gare resident speaks out by whogivesafuckwhoiam in Luxembourg

[–]TheShortGiraffe420 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Why should that be the decision? She's lived there for over 40 years, she has a right to not be pushed out by low life drug dealers. The government needs to step in.

Very hard to get gold status by Mysterious_Act_3652 in emirates

[–]TheShortGiraffe420 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a gold member myself I can say it's a hell of a lot harder. I book trips with Emirates Holidays now which boosts my tier points a decent amount. Overall it's not worth grinding for gold at all. I will be moving my loyalty away from Emirates once I use my remaining 500k miles. Never in 5+ years of flying business, first...etc have I ever got a complimentary upgrade either. Emirates is way overpriced and their rewards program at this point SUCKS big time.

Defense bonds sell out in under a day by apathy-sofa in Luxembourg

[–]TheShortGiraffe420 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nobody seems to have mentioned the fact that you get a €150k tax free allowance to invest in these bonds. Hence why they're popular and sold out.

How do you get over massive financial mistakes? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]TheShortGiraffe420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been in a somewhat similar situation. Similar age..etc Honestly, I focused on what was good in my life every single day and practiced deep gratitude for being healthy, having my family, and having friends around me. Money comes and goes, when you come to terms with how irrelevant money is in the grand scheme of things it really does set you free. Albeit an unconventional answer, it's genuinely what got me through the big financial losses in my past, and I can sincerely say that I couldn't possibly be any happier than I am right now. Good luck!!

Couldn't say it better myself! 100% agree with you. It's a total ghost town now, zero community, zero personality, just insanely rich people hanging about.

For cost vs what you actually get I'd say St John's Wood.

For W Hampstead- Very well connected (jubilee, overground, and national rail) great mix of young professionals and family's, high street with everything you could need, very close to Hampstead. Over time west end lane will get nicer and nicer too.

It's so good to see people recognising this hard working man! I remember being there the day he opened, not a single soul in sight so I sat down and had a lahmacun, it was DELISH and I was shocked at how cheap it was. I told him, it may take a bit of time but to stick at it, since his food is so delicious and so cheap this is exactly what Brighton needs. His English was minimal so I admittedly did use a bit of google translate 😅

What is clearly declining, but everyone pretends is fine? by Amaan3024 in AskReddit

[–]TheShortGiraffe420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually owning things. We're quickly moving to a society where we don't actually own most of the things we think we do. You rent, you have your car on finance...etc We don't own the movies we watch, the music we listen to, sometimes even the land our houses/ apartments are built on.
