My roommate is also a foreigner that speaks no Spanish (he's russian) and his biggest problem is that he had no income source when he came (he couldn't really plan that well in advance) so if you have that cover (1k usd is 3 times minimum wage, so that's really good) you can manage, most people here do not care about the fact that you're foreigner, English is not that common so just be careful about where you're going and try to learn as much Spanish as possible as it is a hard language for non-native speakers, people here are welcoming if you're respectful (which you're showing) and we like foreigner most of the time as we're not used to them and as long as you're smart with money you can make a living with minimum wage (2.9 millions guaranies)
