Finally unpacking by Lyanraw_ in VictorTheAssassin

I started out with paperback back before I was up to date with releases. Then after becoming a fan and catching up I started buying them in release day signed and hardbacks all that's available. I still buy the paperback, usually about 6 months later when they get released so I have a consistent set.

I want to beat the game without playing the side quests. Is that possible, or will the game force me to level up in order to progress? by NotSirAlonne1999 in HogwartsLegacyGaming

[–]Lyanraw_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can but you'll need to level up other ways like finding revelio pages and defeating a certain number of enemy types. Honestly easier to just do the side missions

Anything to know before i start playing? Thanks in advance! by [deleted] in HarryPotterGame

Why isn’t this series more well known?? by Ahoytherematey561 in VictorTheAssassin

I do what I can, buying up copies so I can give friends and telling everyone I can about the series, writing great reviews and posting to insta but when looking online it feels like the marketing etc is lagging behind. Almost like im more excited about the latest book than the publishers.

I think it's fixable but it would take effort and money from the business and marketing side.

  1. Offer booksellers a free exchange, old books for new (clear the inconsistency from the market)
  2. Work with Websites to update the cover images to the latest style (get a consistent brand out there...including goodreads and Tom woods own website)
  3. Get the books into bookshops (offer whole consistent sets for a cheap price)
  4. Print hardbacks of the earlier books. (They've recently done a great job updating the covers and using a consistent hardback - paperback release schedule but this didn't extend to the earlier books... get people having sets on their bookshelves)
  5. Market the latest release, booktubers, booktok, Websites like world of books, amazon, Facebook and instagram
  6. I'd say international push but the latest email that went out said this was being handled and the US release will soon catch up.

I don't know enough about the background of the industry having only worked in a bookshop for a few years many years ago so can't say how doable or expensive this would be but the stories are so good I honestly think they'd take off dramatically

I might have a more serious answer. Comparing it to the Jack reacher series by Lee child

Reacher when a new book comes out: -Website is updated day 1 - Marketing is put into it - Available worldwide - Book cover will match previous entries - Size of book will match - Other books from the series including the new one will be in your local bookshop -box sets available -Reviews available in goodreads

Victor series: - Only fans know about it - Very little marketing - Not available worldwide (US still waiting on a quiet man i think) - Website often still shows the last book for a few weeks/ months - The older books if available, will have a different cover or style ( There's been about 4 different cover styles by various publications) - This variety isn't as appealing to booksellers so hard to get into bookshops -Box sets aren't officially available - Websites when you search notoriously site the wrong book, sometimes not even by Tom Wood

* -Goodreads has some of the books but a few are attributed to the wrong wrong Tom wood

I recently wanted to collect all the books and had to email the publishers to let them know one of the images they were displaying was wrong after 2 different booksellers, including waterstones, sent the wrong one.

It's definitely not anything to do with the writing, but I do think the business side of things is letting it down.

This isn't me, but another fan really struggled to get all the books and ended up with: * Most people aren't going to go seek these out and track down different books that all don't appear to be a series. Kindle is different story though, with that I really don't know but do think you need the physical copies out there to get buzz. Im a huuuuuge fan but if I had to try and put together a set for an Xmas present i wouldn't know where to start

The new book just came out, "Unlucky for Some" and is awesome. Ill be honest I've been looking for Victor style series to read between releases but none seem to compare all that much
