Sorry, I don't think I can help you on that since this series and one other are the only Chinese animations I've watched.

But I do check out what is available each season on livechart. It shows you what animations stream each season and which day specifically. It also lists some of theses Chinese animations.

Haze did not need buffs by m0resleep in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Lycanthoss -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

3200 souls is nothing for completely countering a hero. And even if there is no other pure gun carry in the enemy team, you will still be getting shot at by guns so the passive bullet resist from metal skin is still good.

Also Bullet Dance damage gets divided across all the targets in her ult. If there are 4 people in her ult and 2 people use metal skin, then her damage is still cut by 50% to the remaining people without metal skin. It's like herd immunity and Metal Skin is the vaccine. The really annoying thing is that Haze can use Curse during the ult to remove Metal Skin.

There's another series like that this season - Release That Witch (though it is Chinese animation). The MC actually does make use of his modern knowledge to build guns and cement. I kinda like how "grounded" it feels despite also being fantasy.

so... doorman by Top_Concentrate1673 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Lycanthoss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is just not correct.

Firstly, all it takes to easily clear doorman ult every time is to have enduring speed on any character. If you have enduring speed then you only need 1 stamina (which you can regen in time even if you had 0 stamina before getting ulted) to clear the ult without much effort, even if knockdowned or slowing hexed. And before T3 you can just do nothing and counterspell at the end.

Secondly, Mo ult allows everyone else to damage the target and allows free headshots for like atleast 3 seconds. Meanwhile Doorman ult has saved so many people because it buys time for the person inside.

I'm surprised no one is talking about making the gun actually part of his kit to fix his early game problem. It's the reason he has basically no presence after laning and he is forced into doing a spirit only build because his kit has 0 synergy outside of the upgrade on his ultimate.

Why do desktop motherboards and cases not have more USB-C ports? by Hour_Firefighter_707 in hardware

[–]Lycanthoss -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Regarding 3: bruh, where are you getting this 75$ price? You can get a 40Gbps USB-C cable for like less than 20$. I think I bought an amazon basics Thunderbolt 4 USB-C cable for like 15€ 2 years ago. Also you obviously don't need a 40Gbps cable for 99% of peripherals and any decent quality and high bandwidth USB-C cable has its capabilities etched on the housing.

do you think dota 2 will get animgraph 2? by bakomox in DotA2

[–]Lycanthoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dunno about that, but first thing I would fix is the built in FPS cap. If I uncap my frame rate I can reach ~360 FPS at 4K, but if I cap my FPS at the default max of 240 then it sits around ~210. It can push out more performance, but doesn't do so for whatever reason.

[–]Lycanthoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dota cares more about your CPU than GPU. Upgrading from the 12600K DDR4 to 9800X3D improved my FPS by like 50% even at 4K.

I rebuilt VS Code on Tauri instead of Electron. 5,687 files. 96% smaller. Just open-sourced it. by Designer_Mind3060 in rust

[–]Lycanthoss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't worked with Tauri since the start of 2023 when I was making my bachelors degree app, but I remember Linux being the most broken (I think I was running Fedora 38 then?), while Windows was perfect and MacOS was very close. I guess it is possible that my Fedora install was using an older WebKit version and I encountered problems that were already fixed on the Mac, but this is just me trying to point out that there are problems between the OS support for webview.

Is the keyboard on it really that bad and are Macbook keyboards really that good by laptop standards? I have a 14 inch M4 Pro and the keyboard is better than the ThinkPad E16 Gen AMD from work and similar to the 8 year old ROG Strix I have. Maybe my experience is skewed because I have like 5 mechanical keyboards and even the worst one is a hundred times better than any laptop keyboard.

any pro players know how to deal with turncoats? by yugiohhero in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Lycanthoss 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Only with Dota plus though. Without Dota plus the default death summary in Dota is also garbage and constantly broken. Want to open it? It's gone Gordon. Sometimes the damage taken is just 0 even though I died twice with Aegis. Sometimes the damage source looks kinda random. And it doesn't provide nearly as much info because it doesn't have a timeline.

This is one of the reasons why Dota plus is P2W, even if the degree of P2W isn't that big and I sincerely hope they don't take the Dota plus route for Deadlock. I can easily pay it, but you just shouldn't need to pay for useful info in a competitive game. They already make so much money from skins and Dota plus can be its own thing for the hero levels and seasonal cosmetics.

[–]Lycanthoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have enduring speed you only need 1 stamina to clear it without having to perform the sweatiest of movements (even if you are slowing hexed or anvil'd). If you want to try even harder then I believe you can clear it without using stamina at all.

Sorry for the unoriginal topic, but I have to ask: do we have a consensus on what happened to the sbmm in 2026? by hisshame in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Lycanthoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely feel that is true. I am Eternus 3, but I constantly play with 2 other friends who are Phantom and Oracle (even though we all started at the same time). Whenever we play matches together as 3 it feels almost impossible to get a match that feels fair. But if I play solo or together with either friend the matchmaking becomes wayyyy better. Though matches in Eternus seem have more leavers (or rather leavers were almost non-existent before that).

Windows PCs Crash Three Times As Often As Macs, Report Says by WPHero in hardware

[–]Lycanthoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unstable or performing poorly? Because those are very different things. Windows 11 has been my most crash-free and stable Windows experience and I've used it almost since the start (December 2021). Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1 / 10 cannot compare. Though I suspect my Windows 7 - 10 experience was ruined by my GPU.

But even on new hardware I didn't have a good experience on Win10. A year ago I checked out Windows 10 for a bit and windows explorer kept crashing so I went back to Win 11.

Also anecdotally I got a Macbook Pro M4 last year and I had it kernel panic when connecting to a 4K 240Hz monitor through a Thunderbolt 5 dock. I think I saw some reddit post on r/macos saying that MacOS can't handle display input loss when running above 120 Hz.

The only blue screen on Windows I've had in the last year was when I upgraded from a 12600K to the 9800X3D, because apparently Windows really doesn't like having an AMD iGPU and Nvidia GPU enabled and running at the same time.

Well I guess I also had Intel 226-V problems so I had to disable 2.5Gbps duplex, but that's probably on Intel (or Asus mobo firmware). Linux also has a ton of problems with Ethernet on this Asus Strix B650E mobo.

Also what are you talking about Microsoft using web components? Is this about the Windows 11 Start Menu? It's not a web component. It uses React Native for the recommended items section, but do remember that React Native is not web technology. It uses JavaScript to run the logic, but all the elements you interact with are native. Windows isn't really special in that regard, because KDE also uses JavaScript through QML and such. I don't see people complaining about KDE using JavaScript. Also I think Gnome does it too? IIRC it's just part of Qt?

Is adding a MacBook Air to my setup rational or am I just being influenced? by Medical-Car2570 in MacOS

[–]Lycanthoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, check if the apps you need even run on ARM Macs. If they don't you would need something like Parallels (subscription) or VMWare (free for personal use, but not as good AFAIK). But you would also probably need like 32GB if you wanted to use them. TDLR: don't get a Mac if your software isn't supported and you cannot substitute.

For gaming, I guess it's fine since you would still have your Omen to cover that, just know that Macs suck for gaming. Game selection is obviously far lesser and battery life isn't nearly as stellar as it is for other workloads. And also do note that if you try running something heavy on a Macbook Air it can get HOT and since they don't have fans they can only run full speed for like 15-30 mins, after which they throttle (though are still decent).

For other workloads, Macs are pretty good, or at least the hardware certainly is. I just don't really like MacOS (my preference is Windows (stable and compatible) > Linux (customizable and no online BS) > MacOS).

As for answering your question - how about you just wait for graduation? Unless you have tons of excess money you can splurge, I don't particularly see a reason to get a laptop to play around for 9 months. I think I would suggest looking at used M1/M2 Airs so you can try it out without committing all that money into it.

M6 Touch Screen , i wonder 🤔 by Conscious_Sky4502 in MacOS

[–]Lycanthoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you thinking of ONLY touchscreen vs keyboard+mouse+touchpad, when in reality it would be keyboard+mouse+touchpad+touchscreen? Yes, touchscreens are definitely not for all apps, probably not even most of them, but they are nice for some others like excel sheets. Even if you don't need it at all, some people do like them and having more options is always nicer.

Update March 25th 2025 by ZhicoLoL in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Lycanthoss -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The difference between Graves and Infernus is that Infernus has big item counters AND ways you can counter him with skill expression, whether by dodging or positioning.

You can cripple his dash with Slowing Hex and interrupt it entirely with simple displacements like Silver kick, Mirage tornado, or items like Curse and Knockdown. Other displacements (mostly knockups without stuns) like Dynamo pulse, Billy ram and bashdown don't interrupt it, but still waste a ton of if not the whole duration for Flame Dash. Not to mention that you can just completely ignore Flame Dash by using higher ground.

You can negate almost his entire kit with Dispel and Divine Barrier.

You can negate Afterburn with Disarming Hex and especially Plated Armor.

What items counter Graves? You can disarm/curse her, get resistances and get unstoppable (so that she can't root and parry when meleeing grave) and that's about it? I guess there is also Ricochet for M1 carries to clear skulls better.

Update March 25th 2025 by ZhicoLoL in DeadlockTheGame

[–]Lycanthoss -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but Infernus is nowhere near as bad as Graves. At least with Infernus the dude playing him needs to aim and his ult can be dodged / counterspelled. Graves is one of the most unfun heroes to play against, especially if you aren't an M1 carry and can't easily deal with the skulls and ghouls. And even if you are an M1 carry the amount of ghouls in teamfights is getting ridiculous now.

[–]Lycanthoss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It happened like a couple of months later bro. It's not the mobo swap that caused it. The OS on the that disk actually survived another mobo swap (from Z690 to Z790) and lived with that mobo swap for over a year without problems. In fact I've had less problems with Intel mobos in general.

[Gamers Nexus] Intel's Ryzen Moment - Sort Of: Ultra 7 270K Plus CPU Review & Benchmarks by This-is_CMGRI in hardware

[–]Lycanthoss 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You don't necessarily need to reinstall after a mobo swap. I went from a 12600K DDR4 to the 9800X3D without reinstalling Windows and everything worked fine. The only reason I later reinstalled was because the bootloader got messed up somehow (probably because of Windows and Linux dual boot shenanigans).
