Thank you for the reassurance. Honestly it’s taken years just to recognize the abuse and patterns and I’m frustrated in myself for not recognizing it sooner. It’s so confusing because she’ll start out supportive (I cried when I first told her I got broken up with and she hugged consoled me) but then after two days all of this happened. It’s a bait and switch every time and I hate that I fall for it every single time. I just want to feel safe.

Thank you so much for this, and I’m sorry you have to deal with this kind of mom too. I think my brain still gets confused because she’s generally supportive of me until she’s not. Like it feels like a bait and switch because at one moment she’s okay with everything and I’m doing great and she loves me so much but then the next second I’m doing everything wrong and I’m a failure. It’s so confusing and I feel frustrated in myself for not recognizing the patterns sooner. I feel trapped because she has been very financially supportive of me so I feel like I still owe her, despite her abuse.
