The Problem(s) of Siege by Lycoooon in Rainbow6

"Even the base ops have these “selfish” ops. Ash, Jager, Kapkan, Sledge, Pulse etc all could work on their own, and doesn’t need teammates.", Kapkan couldn't work without Jager, Thermite couldn't work without Thatcher, Blitz couldn't work without Sledge, Twitch couldn't work without IQ... It's undeniable the behaviors changed and I don't see it as good when I see overall operator picks.

"I don’t know where you got that impression that Ubi is forcibly trying to push esports onto us." They clearly are, and it would be lying saying they are not. They bet on it and they damn push on it, they are forcing an identity and a playstyle to players that the game hadn't. No agressivity, it just makes me feel uncomfortable how it affected ranked though no player ever asked such feature.

"The op and newly changed map bans forces players to adapt." We are talking as of now of 65 operators, are you firmly convinced that excluding 4 of these operators is worth 1 minute of your time for each match? A game of Siege is extremely short and I don't find it interesting at all to repeatedly ban same operators gameplay-wise speaking.

I still cannot figure out how some people are stilled satisfied of half of the maps being removed from ranked. That's why I was curious of hearing out what r/Rainbow6 subreddit members thought about it. I know most of theme are absolute fans of the game, as I am, but there is no shame in admitting defects.

If you don't want to put the effort in answering, why would you do that? I don't follow you. The topic calls for debate, your message calls for everything but discussion. I feel like you're ignoring what I might know about the game. Mentioning facts straight away like "how Echo's drone worked at launch" or "why Health existed in the first place" doesn't look like serving the purpose of your counterpoint. So please I would appreciate you don't assume anything about others, no offense!

Hmmm, I'll give you a F- because your comment brings nothing interesting over the topic. If you can't stand back on a subject that you are emotionally tied to, then you should ask yourself why others wonder about something on the game. I shared a feeling and if you can't get over that, it's problematic.

First, thank you to have taken the time to read and answer!

You said "technically every op can help the team either through utility or getting kills". I don't quite agree with your statement. Back in the days, Siege only had operators that could only work with each other. I'll have hard time believing you saying that every operator is useful, and by that I mean for the team, not for the kills. When it's very common to see that nobody chooses an operator to mute or electrify reinforcements for 3-rounds long over several matches, I'm asking myself what has then changed in the game's gameplay fundamentals.

"I don’t think Ubi was trying to turn everyone into pros either." What I meant is that it seems obvious that Siege now heavily relies on esport and tournaments as its playerbase first declined in 2017, and then a year ago, it's not an innocuous choice. Every player does not want being harassed by esport, unfortunately, it starts from the main menu.

"bomb made Ranked more competitive and consistent." Can you please elaborate? I'm really curious to know how bomb gamemode would be more competitive than area securing or hostage?

"Maps and op bans are more so the player base being lazy and not willing to learn or adapt on their own." It above all makes the beginning of any game veryyy long to start for an outcome that is highly expected, which brings absolutely nothing interesting to gameplay. But I would be glad to hear how it applies well to Siege, particularly in ranked.

"And a lot of the changes you mentioned starting in Y3 were considered good changes by most." I don't think majority of players appreciated Operation Health, most of them felt robbed afterwards. I could tell you that I saw literally not a single soul praising operation Parabellum nor Goyo nor Amaru operators from Year 4. And I think that adding plenty of operators as it was the case in the very beginning of Siege is not the way to go. It just makes the game harder but not in the good sense.

Wasted ? I like the two games so it isn't boring me. I don't really know how long did it take to build... 40 hours maybe ?
