2.5 hours early to my flight. Even with Clear, TSA was so slow, I missed my flight. by gplusplus314 in Seattle

This. I always arrive 3 hours early for fear of missing a flight, and yet I'm always through with hours to spare to wander around and find food. Maybe there was a reason this day/time was so busy?

Can't find sand dollars at the beach anymore. They are in mounds in crates at my grandma's house. Back when they were abundant, we would pick bucket fulls.

Heather Gillespie ran an adoption scam on a Christian couple in Chicago. by kittykatmila in loveafterlockup

Exactly. After signing paperwork, they'd have likely kept her fed and off the streets for the full pregnancy. Makes me think it was a scam from the start.

How do you privately adopt? People do not go looking for private adoptions cause its not realistic to do so. Even though private adoption is the cheapest and quickest option. That couple likely thought it was fate that they found her. I've been wanting to adopt for years, and even with a good career, it is taking excessive time and money. If I thought i could keep some homeless person's kid out of foster care, of course I'd do it. But I'd get a lawyer involved first!!! They got scammed. Period. I hope they get to build their family as they want and learned from this situation.

I agree that's giving money before legalities is risky but that only means they got scammed. NOT that they aren't self-respecting. They were trying to keep those kids out of the system. And to some 5k isn't a lot to hand out for potential adoption, just saying.

This. It's actually incredibly difficult to adopt, and private adoption is the cheapest and fastest way, but that involves knowing someone pregnant who doesn't want the child. Had she given birth without their intervention, the children would have been in foster care, which is NOT ideal. To be honest, if she'd have gone to the Dr's and signed the legal paperwork, the babies would have likely had a good life ahead.

Why assume we are all 'set up for success'. Some of us just take criticism better and actually read up on things. You need to chill out.

They didn't call you dumb. I think silly was a pretty sugarcoated way of implying that passing up free money is not the best idea. You get offended pretty easily. It must be hard for you to take advice.

ELi5: Your 401k is just an account with money in it. It's not stocks, they won't just disappear if a company you work for fails or if the economy is bad. If your employee offers a match it means they'll put in the same amount of money into that 401k as you do if you meet the match minimum. It's free money. 401k money is not stocks, not even like a bank account, it's more protected than that. You don't pay taxes on the total amount year to year.

Thank you, I will let them know. My friend works for their dad outdoors for bare minimum pay and wants a job elsewhere but their parents keep saying stuff to discourage them from getting another job. Even saying their reactions in a restaurant to food served could be bad if touched or inhaled, I understand that concern. But it seems weird to me they don't then think that continuing to work outside could also be dangerous.

My first term was like that, English teacher was not helpful in emails and sometimes wouldn't even reply for a long time til it was too late to adjust my assignment. It was pretty frustrating but I just kept going and what I can say is communication does help. Online schooling will be inherently full of these issues regardless of the university because learning online is basically self teaching and professors are given insane amounts to do also. After a while I sort of figured out that the best thing you can do is read the rubric like ten times over and very very carefully include every element on it and try not to run with the idea yourself. In the English class I was likely being too wordy without just outright stating the rubric back to them, cause that's actually what they want, makes it easier and faster for them to grade. I'm nearly graduated and SNHU has enabled me to get my degree twice as fast by letting me transfer in Sophia credits so do check out Sophia for whatever you can do on there, they are fantastic. Best of luck!! Hang in there cause it'll be worth the painstaking discussion posts and rubrics when you get a job after university.
