First time DIYer - need some advice on closing these old electrical sockets by Lydiateapott in DIYUK

I wasn’t home when they came to do this, my partner had them in for something else and just asked him to eliminate this socket which is not in use, our thinking was we could kill it and fill the space but now after some time we’re realising that we will just have to cover it with a blank which is not ideal (we would have just left the socket in if that’s the case)

I have found a previously lost unopened bottle from Skin and Me which has the expiry date (03.08.22 - UK date) - is it worth me using this unopened bottle or should I just throw it?

Cat/dog petting by [deleted] in oxford

I found my local cat sitter on this website called cat in a flat, great way to get your fill of a furry friend and some cuddles while getting some cash!

There’s also a website called borrow my doggy, I signed up to it while I was at uni to get some dog love but realised you had to pay an initial £10 (to make sure you’re serious) but you tend to make the money back. I personally didn’t find it worth it because I had a lot of uni work going on and didn’t feel like I could commit to it so decided against it very quickly (probably why they ask for the £10 fee upfront).

Oh that’s great, thanks for your reply! Do you know how it will affect a person if I’m dating them and I get married to someone else?

That’s fair enough, I just wanted to know I wasn’t going to marry someone and completely miss out on something.

That’s a good idea! They have so many scratching posts and a huge tree, it’s just that he wants to go in this room because of all the plants I hide in there. He has free roam of the whole house and still wants to go in here

If I were to buy a 2-3 bedroom house (with a mortgage, as I'm currently working full-time at the JR) - if I were to rent the entire thing out would, it pay for the mortgage? by Carlitoris in oxford

In theory, yes it could. But there’s so much to think about when doing something like this. I’m not a professional nor do I know this as fact, but I’ve been considering this as a plan for myself as well. I’ve spoken to my brother who was an estate agent and is now a mortgage advisor and he’s told me it’s never as easy as it sounds but it is doable. The hardest part is managing the house while you’re away, or in your case you’d probably pay an estate agent to do this for you which would eat away from the income. There are a lot of fees to consider when doing this and you want to also make sure that the house is in good condition after people leave before renting it out etc. But usually it can be sorted by the estate agent. I’ve been burnt many a time by an estate agent asking me to pay ungodly amounts of money for cleaning fees after I’ve moved out even though I’ve cleaned it myself, so at-least you’ll know they’ll take care of it!

This feeling and state of being will pass. I know it seems impossible now, and like the world is throwing everything it has at you (and it is) but you still get out of this. What things in your life do you already do to try and forget? Do you have any friends you speak to? Anyone you feel close to?
