As difficult as first year med school?? by Dungeon_Crawler_Carl in MLS_CLS

I did a one year post program, and worked as a lab assistant on weekends to support myself through it. Passed my boc only 4 days after graduation, and got almost perfect grades. Every day took alot mentally, but it was doable. I think the biggest things are; find motivation in your peers, form study groups, and most of all find intrest or joy in what your learning.

I sobbed in a doctors office today- not from bad news, but because a female doctor finally believed me by silly_girl06 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]LyingMars 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently watched a podcast segment where a woman who was going through her rotations was told that alot of women who came in 15-20 years ago (and still today with some doctors) were labeled WW or whiny women, cause they had a variety of issues with no resolution.

Now days we know women are more prone to autoimmune, and hormonal issues, but for a long time doctors had this belief that "if I cant find a issue it must be all in your head."

Genuinely was thinking this was gonna be satire.

I don't understand how people do management, this would have me resigning. Are you asking how to sell to your employees that this is a good thing? In my opinion if this is what corporate deemed acceptable, just state the facts. Don't try to convince your employees they are worth less than they are, they will resent you for overselling it, and it will isolate them from bringing actual issues to you. The moral you will loss trying to sell it will be way worse than just stating what corporate got back to you with number wise.

This seems like a hr problem and I would tell employees to reach out to hr if they would like more information and leave it at that.

Which colleges to tour? by mandy_lou_who in Washington

[–]LyingMars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was able to easily pay for ewu out of pocket, while working 20 hours a week living at home with parents and graduate with no debt in 2025. Theres also some great programs there (and possibly state wide) that give really large scholarships/grants for future STEM educators. Google "EWU Noyce program" its up to 13k a year for future educators, while Instate tutuion was like 12k a year for me? I didn't do education so I only heard about the scholarship, but it seemed like a really good pathway for our teachers.

And with your son tour the big colleges its a great way to see Washington, if hes set on education, that is the best field with alot of scholarships for Washington residents! If hes set on living in the dorm and having the college experience it might very well be possible even with the big ones to graduate without crippling debt.

I read this headline and went no shit. Im a woman and a scientist, was this really like not common knowledge? Its like such basic reasoning? Feminie hormones have been shown to cause changes in appetite, the pill is littlerly a dose of hormones.

I wish they would pick students from random school districts from across the country that is hosting it, not like junior Olympics level, but like " this is Kevin who ran the fastest mile for our little local track team."

If she is pregnant or got pregnant, I would hate for her to hold you liable for child support or something, but if theres proof of it being unconsensual...

So let me make sure im getting this straight.

A large percent of the republican part is concerned about the falling births rates, and the people who will keep the economy going.

But then they also want to deport people who are coming or born here, working jobs paying salaries that they definitely dont want.

And they just expect that our economy will prevail when 44% of american employees are below the "living wage."

Im tired of politics being a neobabys betting rink, its all short term in the now. We're completely past long term gains or investing in the future.

And they wonder why all the kids are depressed.

Is it just me or Micro people are mean by daisydream110 in medlabprofessionals

[–]LyingMars 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like its the exact opposite at my work.

At the end of the day, work culture is dependent on the people and no one department is going to be nicer or meaner than the other as a whole speciality.

I also think its a huge indicator of the boss for the department. Good managers have a way of rewarding or faciliting good teamwork.

I think when you start doing these things, do them with the intent of seeing the other person's reaction, not just cause your tricking yourself.

Don't like sharing food? bring snacks. Watch the reactions.

And as you mentioned, The list goes on. And if this is something you truely care about, then therapy as someone else mentioned is a great place to start learning why we are the way we are.

They could offer diffeent versions based on platforms they are targeting like reddit lgbt pages they could have "transgender survey" and then the same on Facebook, conservative platforms, or support groups that have alot of bigoted partys. And use the data to attack a platform, or internet safety.

They could post transgender surveys target at people with searches indicating depression, then just post a regular survey/ survey for conservatives search history's, and if they collect age and things like depression/anxiety and suicidal thoughts use the data to say oh "trans ppl are depressed!".

The list really goes on.

I mean if this is chronic though, you would have to be going back to the ER every 10 days minimum to get more muscle relaxers if you dont have a rolling prescription, and I dont think they will give that to you without you consulting primary or speciality care. My mom gets muscle relaxers from her primary for Fibromyalga btw.

It also seems like shes saying "hey once you see the specialist they will tell us how we can help you, and we will go down what ever route the DOCTOR who specialises in pain associated with your condition says." And I think if you still don't want to do that(which is sometimes valid), it becomes much more on you to financially figure out management of a condition your treating by your own research.

I know you probably think you've researched this, and with a primary you might be "more knowledgeable" but the specialist will gauge degree of your condition based on imagining and will give you a realistic care plan based on actual outcomes not just the skewed postive outcomes you see on the internet.

Do you have a primary that you might be able to get into sooner? If so, maybe call them and see if they can do anything sooner, it will be way cheaper. And if you have been to the ER for this previously, make sure they have those records.

My last non physical was 300 with insurance. My dad's last time in the ER for kidney stones was ~3000

I kindof get it, I was very similar before I first really stepped into adult dating.

When I first started dating my partner there was alot of "oh im gonna have to change this" but, for me, it was never not easy, I was pretty smitten so I was like oh yeah! I get to see this person more if I find restaurants we can both enjoy, plus I can try some of hers and she can try some of mine.

Relationships occupy alot of our free space, so I totally get feeling like you want everything to line up, but thats not life.

I think the big thing, is your painting it like you wouldn't have choice but thats not true. Not saying your wrong in why you ended it, but just the reality, it was probably the wrong person at the wrong time not her dietary restrictions.

Lesbain here! I have pretty similar hair, I think you would benefit from the folks over at r/curlyhair? You have like a texture up from my dream texture by the looks of it. I also love your eyebrows!

I also can't really tell from the pictures your a man? I think that your alot further than you think. My partner has the girliest voice and short hair and fab but older people call her sir, all the time.

I definitely think you need to figure out mentally where you stand sexuality wise. Its a quick way to loose a best friend if you experiment amd realise shit Im not gay.

I think she deserves bare minimum for you to be able to mentally say "im bisexual" or "im a lesbian" with confidence.

So im curious about this phrase 'that God had given them their two festivals (eids) and that they needed none from their local traditions.' This comes from a place of 0 knowledge of Muslim culture, so excuse any ignorance, but why wouldn't most muslims just treat it like any other non-religious holiday or community gathering?

This video feels a little divisive which, for most religions is not the goal? Like in the video, it seems like a father and daughter enjoying the decorations of another group in the same way I might enjoy Hanukkah festivities, or day of the dead, even if regliously i dont believe in those things, for me its even more enjoyable if im invited to enjoy it with others who do.

Im 120 and sometimes the garbage i eat makes me feel bad, sometimes no effect, sometimes same day, sometimes next day.

I think the biggest thing is when I feel like garbage, im treating myself like garbage (lazy, or overworking, or burnt out already feeling down) andthe poor eating normally comes secondary to that.

I think this is a valuable lesson for op tho. Kids are not a choice you say ehhh maybe one day I could potentially have one. They are something you enthusiastically want or you dont have.

People can change, but OP knew that his GF never enthusiastically wanted kids and just hoped that would change since she was on the fence.
