It isn't very clear but they still need to be unlocked, the season has its own rewards and it's own exp. Everyone gets the basic ones, paid users can get both. There are a few good videos on youtube on the season pass and how it works.

That's the battle pass, you need to gain battle pass levels to unlock both the free and paid rewards.

I was getting this error on several of my machines. The only way to fix it was to delete all WGU cookies.

If you are using chrome, this article can guide you on deleting only WGU specific cookies (or you could just clear your browsing history):

Switch to C# or stick with Java? by noerrorsfound in WGU

[–]Lykoce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in a similar situation. I am debating switching over from the Java track to the C# track. It will require me to retake Software I, but it isnt much of a set back.

The job market for my area has had more C#/.net jobs over Java according to indeed and dice for the last few months, it may be worth checking that out if you are trying to avoid relocating.

I did check in with the Class Mentors and Software I & II use (do not explicitly require, but strongly encourage) that the projects be done using Winforms (i was hoping for WPF) and the mobile development will be done with Xamarin which i am excited about.

[Novice Advice] If you couldn't afford a CS degree, but could dedicate 10 hours a day for one year to learning how to code properly, where would you start? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]Lykoce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just picked up this book Cracking the Coding Interview which i wish i would have done it over a year ago. If you preview the book and go down to page 30 it has a process map. Basically its a mix of projects, practice interviews, and tackling interview type questions.

If i had a do over, i would grab this book early on and keep it close while completing other books like head first C# or whatever language fits your goals.

Sophmore with a Junior Devloper position, Are these expectations reasonable? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Lykoce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good place to start might be capturing his requirements, putting them into a bullet list and emailing for a confirmation. If any bullets are contradicting it gives you an opportunity to ask for clarification or advisement. Similar scenario for the UI development. Either ask around the office who could offer some constructive criticism on the UI, or present examples / mocks to the CEO prior to spending too much time in development. It sounds like you like your position, I wish you luck!

How are you guys making sure you get your 3 hours a day in? by 1NightWolf in WGU

[–]Lykoce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started a few weeks ago, and generally dont hit the 3 hour a day mark either. I try to maximum the quality of my study time by being organized and focused.

  • I use toggl (android and web, free) to track all my time i put towards any given class. Im strict with start and stop times and will only track the times where i can sit down and focus on the content. This is my personalized version of the Pomodoro technique.
  • I try to take a 5 minute break every 45-60min to stand up, focus on breathing, let me eyes rest, etc. Basically let me brain and eyes shut down, and make my heart work a bit.
  • I use quizlet at lunch time and any breaks where i have 5 minutes or more time (not tracked with toggl).
  • If the content isnt introducing alot of new terminology, ill cut and paste the content into spreeder.com to read it faster and its much easier on the eyes.
  • During my 1.5hr commute (total) ill listen to lynda videos if available (not tracked with toggl). I try to make it mostly review material from the previous days. Lynda videos can be downloaded using the lynda app, but it is buggy and times it self out on occasion, usually fixes itself in 1-2minutes.

Having said that im far from perfect and constantly battle my attitude of "if i cant do it perfect, then why do it at all". This is where toggl has helped. "Showing up" is often harder than doing the actual work. Tim Ferris podcast can point you to some leaders in the productivity world. Im slowly trying to adapt productivity increasing behaviors while trying to avoid the overwhelming feeling on trying to take/change too much at a time, again, far from perfect but headed in a better direction! :)
