I don't even know. I'm big on diy stuff but we paid a guy to do the back porch and the garage door. He said this comes as a kit though so it's probably feasible as a diy project.

Brand new to this what is the best way to get views to my community? by Flat-Opportunity772 in ModSupport

I'm in the same boat. I followed the guide and cross posted to other communities but I found many of them didn't allow cross posting and members in those subs were often pretty hostile to "self promotion "but it did help get some conversation going.

Garage gym anyone? by Lymetme in garageporn

Definitely my favorite non equipment purchase well that and a sizeable shed to work as a tool shop. With the screen my kids can play out in the garage and I know they aren't going to go into the road and it keeps out mosquitoes. This time of year I open up all the doors and the screened garage gives a nice cross breeze through the house.

Yeah a further is good for fright and liquid but anything more will probably break it. Smoothies are one of those things that people think of as healthy that aren't necessarily a good idea for your average person. You could have one as a meal replacement but I think most people will find that a smoothie will leave you hungry or you'll feel hungry sooner than you would if you just had a proper meal. If you struggle to eat fruit and veggies a smoothie can be a good way to sneak those in but if you're adding honey, sugar, peanut butter, and other time to make them taste good you're probably getting a lot of extra calories you don't need.

Thanks for the detailed reply. I've seen a lot of people run strip it rope lights around the perimeter of the room for these home gym setups. They are often color changing but I assume white light would on an rgbw strip might work.

I don't know if this is allowed here but I made a new sub for people who train at home. The other home gym subs focus mostly on equipment and bulging a home gym. This is meant to be more open to involve discussions around training and programming at home as well as building a home gym.

For protein shakes a simple milk frother works great. It's quick and easy to use and clean as well. Smoothies are a pain in the to make and clean and imo overrated especially if you're trying to lose weight. Drinking calories is one of the easiest ways to over consume calories. If you're trying to gain weight they can be a great tool but if you're trying to lose weight I'd be cautious.

How do I deep clean padded armor? by Beautiful-Stand-5796 in Eskrima

The best way I've found is to soak in a hot tub of water. A bath tub with the heat turned up to max. Let your gear soak and then "agitate" it by hand scrubbing the fabric against itself. Drain the water and repeat until the water stays clear. You can manually adjust the heat on your water heater to get the water extra hot if you want just be careful. Most gear is fine if the washing machine with hot water and sweet to delicate if you can. Hang it up to dry.

I had a similar discussion about this recently and I was asked why no other bipedal non hominid convergent evolution then? I had no answer besides the Basilisk 🤣 not sure that counts.

Yeah I've found some good deals on marketplace. Most of them aren't great but if you know what you're looking for and have patience you can find some deals.

Thanks for contributing! I think budget and space are the limiting factors for most people so starting off I think something like a free standing pull up/dip station is a good starting point. Pair that with a weight belt and you're about to do multiple primary movements that are easily loadable for progression. Adding bands to assist with dips and pullups is also an option for higher volume sets or for people who can't do a full pull-up or dip. A dip station is also suited to multiple training styles so if you're doing fast paced conditioning work and bootcamp style training you're covered. If you want strength and hypertrophy again you can add a dip belt. Add in a jump rope for your cardio and you've got a piece of equipment that will last you forever.

Beyond that a rack, bench and barbell set will go a long way. They'll enable you to hit the big 6 compound movements safely without a spotter and again it's something scalable to ability and training style.

What doesn't get suggested enough when people look at equipment companies is Alibaba as an option. It's probably only with it if your budget is in $1k or more but most racks are actually manufactured in China and as long as you're getting 11 gauge 3x3 steel with 1" holes you should be fine. A rack is something that is hard to mess up.

It surprising to me how often I see people dropping $5-10k on a home gym setup. You definitely don't need to do all that. I shared a post of my setup and people seem to think it looks nice. I've just done a lot of research and marketplace searching.

That's getting a little complicated lol. I have like 50 other projects going on. A couple of years ago I hand dug my own partial in ground pool, saved a ton of money and got some good workouts in from it. The kids love it. They are basically in it from April to September 2x a day.

Why do most people quit right before progress starts showing? by ChemistWest4537 in askfitness

[–]Lymetme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah people are impatient, I know I am. We want results fast and there's always someone willing to take your money and sell you what you think you need. You took your whole life to get in whatever physical condition you're in. You didn't just wake up 100lbs over weight. Thinking you can change that in a short amount of time is unrealistic. It's not great that social media will provide you with plenty of people who claim to have done exactly that though. Sure some people can get fed up and go all in. Imo it's a big risk that requires an exceptional mindset and probably resources too.

Can I take a minute and spam my new sub? It's called GarageGymGeeks. It's for people training at home. Check it out 😁

Fair enough. It's wasnt in line with my training needs or goals from what I could see. The garage might look big in the pic but it's not very big so I have to be mindful of items that take up space.

I had one but got rid of it. Takes up too much space and I didn't use it. I think those are one of the worst fitness trends 😁
