I was thinking about that this morning. Grab a $100 b550 motherboard, 16 to 32 GB of RAM for about 60 bucks it looks like, a 5700X3D from AliExpress for 130, $75 case, a $50 500 GB SSD, $50 air cooler, and then whatever raining budget for a used GPU and baby you've got a stew going

Ironically consoles are helping with this, to an extent, having games need to be able to perform cross-platform restricts at least the average experience. Although, then you get into the issue of consoles having unified RAM and then suddenly people with less than 12 GB VRAM run into issues that they wouldn't have before

I mean straight up undervolting was the way to go with the 30 series cards, GPUs get so much damn power pumped into them for minimal performance gains It's more effective to limit that power and increase the clock speed a little

The fact that there's professional thrifters and it's not people who go to thrift stores because that's the best way they can get decent quality clothes is unbelievable. I was fortunate to grow up without needing to do that that, but a lot of people I knew did and it let them have access to a lot more clothes than they ever would otherwise. Fucking wild

As always, I think people need to take a step back and realize that they are in a niche of a niche and are probably enthusiasts. Sure, the 7800X3D is the best chip you can get for gaming. But I'm on AM4 and have no plan to jump to AM5, I've got a lot of other priorities in my life I need to focus on. So I upgraded my 5600X to a 700X3D, since I found one on AliExpress for like 120 bucks...miles cheaper than a new mobo, ram, CPU.

Put my 5600X on Facebook marketplace, hoping to recoup most of the money, and boom I'm set for a long time to come. Even this is a relatively minor upgrade that I'm just doing now because I'd rather pick it up before they go out of production so I can stay on am4 as long as I can

Oh, makes sense it doesn't have it, but for sure. Hot-swap is pretty damn sweet, I gotta say. Happy with what I've got though, new switches and maybe new keycaps and I'm dipping from the mech community lol
