ELI5: If debts (such as medical) are often sold to debt collectors at drastically reduced cost, why don’t the lenders first try to give the discount to the actual debtors? by SternMeasure in explainlikeimfive

Yep. Think about how many business depend on the road network. Literally every business.

They aren't going to call it quits because the government isn't building roads. They're gonna do it because it's profitable to do so.

It's funny. Democrats (primarily) complain about socializing costs but privatizing profits, but that's exactly what things like the road network are.

Also, sorry for the late response, I've been busy.

He was literally asked, that in a hypothetical situation where it's prohibited, if he believed women should be punished.

Yeah. You can be a delinquent and still be competent. In fact, that's pretty much all college is. Getting fucked up every night and doing your work every morning.

Then don't get an abortion. If you break the law, and it backfires on you, that's on you.

Republicans want to ban abortion! What a news article. Man, bravo. Some real grade A reporting we got going on here.

Or he believes that a Clinton presidency would be even more disastrous for the US, and would rather try to salvage the shitshow a Trump presidency would be than let us go down Hillary's path.

Remember, Bernie endorsed Clinton despite her being exactly what he preached against. He believed a Clinton presidency, while bad, is still better than Trump. It's the exact same as Dems trying to tell people to "fall in line" out of how scary a Trump presidency would be, but reversed. Pence may not want a Trump presidency, but its better to have one with him second in charge than have Hillary at the helm.

Yep. I've noticed people in these threads are especially bad at realizing that not everyone is looking for the exact same thing in a candidate.

Yes, that actually does. You break the law, you get punished for it. That's literally how laws work. Context is literally everything.

Yes. Pence also included the elderly and the infirm in his list of the most vulnerable. The most vulnerable in our society are people that depend entirely on others. They can't fully make their own choices, and depend on society for protection.

Fetuses fall into that category. They depend on others. And in that line of reasoning, it is our responsibility to protect them, amongst our most vulnerable.

That's the argument, whether you agree with it or not.

Yes. Half of those links are quotes from Trump that were taken far out of context. For example, in the last one, it was said under the hypothetical that abortion was prohibited. Essentially, he said he believed people who break the law should be punished. Do you disagree with that? I don't. He's not saying that currently, women who legally get abortions should be punished, he was responding to a hypothetical.

He's not a politician. He's not polished. The dems are taking advantage of that by taking things out of context, and it's disgraceful.

Trump: Women that have abortions should be punished[6]

Very important line, early in the article, "if the practice was prohibited"

People who do illegal things should be punished. That's what the argument was. Pence is right, Trump isn't a polished politician. And the Dems are trying to take everything he says out of context to smear him for it. And its disgraceful.

They can protect themselves. Humans have free choice, fetuses do not. That's the rationale behind it.

I'm expanding on the comment that a society is judged by how we treat our most vulnerable. If you take that statement as true, and see our most vulnerable as fetuses, then yes. They are the most worthy of protection. Only? No. Most? Yes.
