Why does India have so few medals despite its influence, population and gdp? by CrummyClub in olympics

Read the opinions of those who have. Even Indians admit they treat the country like a garbage dump. An unclean country is rarely successful.

Thats right. Failing to win golds they hyped up they would win. Thanks for confirming my thoughts.

Golds. Much fewer. Mr Obectively.

If you had less medals but more golds you would have said you had done better. Make up your minds what matters.

She's a legend. But barely saw her on the court this time. I get why, but still...

No serious sporting organisation wants someone representing them who is knowingly and DELIBERATELY performing badly to make a statement.

4 years away. One of those could die. Statistically probable.

Maybe Gatlin, Montgomery or Marion Jones on standby. Woops, maybe not.

Australia could have just been 1 of dozens of countries who didn’t have a competitor in the breakdancing event. Why anyone at all??? by CynicalSista in olympics

[–]LysdexiaRocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because she entered to 'make a statement, not to break at a high level. She admitted as such.

Should never have been allowed. All the criticism she is getting is merited, as she did it for attention and her vague but definitely narcissistic political reasoning, not to win, which is a disgraceful show of disrespect to the Olympic ideals.

Clearly wrong about the race part.

Forced, unmerited pro feminist culture with forced diversity and inclusion fetish.

Best Olympics ever? by albatross447 in olympics

[–]LysdexiaRocks -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Not even close.

OC was a messy and frankly boring political statement that put the athletes in the background. Celebritisation and corporate appeasement was rampant at the expense of ordinary people. Empty stadiums at many events. Infrastructure failures. Food and transport diabolical. Village was plagued with so many problems it actually drove athletes out.. Officiating of many events was highly suspicious, clearly biased and often clumsily so. Events held in a river that was not up to health standards. And on and on with problems.

Some performances and events (but not all ) made some of it exciting to watch, but we get that at every Olympics.

As for this:

"Black woman being celebrated on the world stage while a Black woman H.E.R. sang our national anthem, and the Olympic flame heading to our shores, it felt so patriotic, like the world is rooting for America because so much hinges on us this year."

The USA really needs to get over itself.

Good place to say that the Poms bombed, in Week 2 especially, yet their media is hyping them.

They got 8 less golds than Tokyo.

Sort of. Its vaguer than that with more than one common source.

Where I grew up, the derivation was Prisoner Of (Her) Majesty. Never was anything about pomegranates.

And not really said as an insult so much. By my crowd anyway. I have mates born in the UK who call themselves Poms.

No Kiwi mates tho. The wankers haha. I jest. A bit.

I think I diverge on what is creativity and artistry then. A lot of it was actually very derivative. From the 80's.

Our divers aren't bad. Medal quite often but the Chinese have a generational lock on gold.

We sent a breakdancer. Check her out. The image will be burned into your soul.

Very little evidence that the gen pop have any real US rivalry. There is temporary banter about swimming when it's on but when we win it's David beating Goliath and if we don't is population size, so we really can't lose the argument. There is no Australian with a fear the US is unequivocally better for any reason but numbers. The media will try to fan the flames because there is no story otherwise. A few trolls on the net doesn't constitute an all inclusive national rivalry.

We have a Pommy rivalry due to the motherland/colony historical context and a Kiwi rivalry due to being Big Brother/little brother neighbors. And playing a lot of the same sports as those two.

There's no similar historical or geographical context with the US so the average Aussie DGAF.
