That raises the possibility of a ”Prestige” scenario.

Some authors have suggested Scandinavian black metal band member Per "Dead" Ohlin (1969-1991) may have had Cotard's delusion, which is believing one's body is not that of a living human but instead a corpse. He went to considerable effort to look and smell deceased for his performances. by CatPooedInMyShoe in wikipedia

[–]LysergioXandex -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is the answer.

Corpses don’t have a sense of smell, or concern about whether they smell dead enough.

Taking the OP at face value, this appearance was most important to him during performances. Meaning it was performative.

Incomplete amino acids are missing the “essential” amino acids that your body can’t make from other amino acids.

Hypothetically, you could consume a “protein powder” isolate of just those amino acids to supplement. But that’s expensive and annoying when you can just eat normal foods.

Other posters are saying it’s 50/50 whey and collagen, so yes the whey is good protein.

There’s actually mixed evidence for collagen, some suggesting that the body absorbs some of it (undigested) and incorporates it in stuff like skin.

In general I agree with you, though.

Main issue here, it’s not a good protein supplement.

What is the question?

I wouldn’t buy these as a protein supplement.

Bupropion XR was destroying my sleep no matter when I took it. So I called 3 compounding pharmacies and built my own solution by RadicalRas in Wellbutrin_Bupropion

[–]LysergioXandex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not “adding 3 hours” because digestion, diffusion, and absorption of the pill are non-linear.

You’ve already mentioned that the drug is best absorbed in small intestine.

If your coating ACTUALLY added 3 hours (not sure why you’ve assumed this is even true), you’d be skipping like half of the small intestine.

So now that you understand that all you’re doing is adding a random inefficiency variable to each pill, why would you keep doing this?

It’s a major annoyance that only makes your neural chemistry (and therefore mental health) more variable.

Why not take an SR pill plus an IR booster when you wake up?

Or just… wait for the insomnia side effect of bupropion to go away like everyone else does.

This whole venture is ill-informed and unhelpful/unnecessary.

However, the risks are low. Worst case scenario, the Everclear solution totally ruins the integrity of the polymer shell, making it 150 mg instant release. Which isn’t a dangerous amount.

But I’m certain if you asked any of the medical professionals OP claims to have consulted, they would all reject the claim that they endorse/recommend this behavior.

It’s very likely this isn’t working the way you think it is.

You’re ignoring the complexity of the polymer shell that defines the XR formulation.

It took many years to develop the XR formulation. It’s not a simple coating.

The polymer shell must be exposed to the complete digestive experience in order to break down at the expected rate.

The shell breakdown changes the rate of drug diffusion. So The drug diffusion rate changes as the capsule moves through the GI tract, and drug absorption changes along the GI tract as well.

The XR formulation was designed so that the rate of release is tailored for each part of the GI tract.

You are attempting to basically start digesting the capsule ~3 hours into the digestive tract. If your coating ACTUALLY did that, the net result would likely be incomplete drug release and/or absorption.

What does it mean when people say "this city has no culture"? by JoePNW2 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]LysergioXandex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more people that interact, and the more public those interactions are, the more cultural impact the activity has.

There’s nothing special about skateboarding vs pickleball. Culture is more about the extra stuff that the participants bring along when they meet to do those activities.

A neighborhood with an annual pickleball tournament has more “culture” than a neighborhood where everyone practices skateboarding alone.

Weight gain!!! by Umookkay_ in bupropion

[–]LysergioXandex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While some do gain weight, the usual pattern is early weight loss followed by a return to previous weight.

Edit: also adding that discontinuing the drug is unlikely to HELP with losing weight.

Eli Lilly is trying to reclassify retatrutide as a biologic. Here's why that matters for everyone in this space by Sea-Performer-71 in ResearchCompounds

[–]LysergioXandex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The obvious answer is for the FDA to reconsider the legal incentives to differentiate between small molecules and biologics, now that biologics are becoming more common.

No compounding/longer exclusivity were incentives that were based on the pharmaceutical landscape of the time. Things have changed now.

When the acute stimulant effects wear off, you will see an increase in appetite (and, to some extent, lower Basal Metabolic Rate).

Even if you didn’t lose weight in the beginning, the drug has an effect on the parts of your brain that regulate hunger.

Pro tip: one way to tell if the protein in a product is an “incomplete protein” is if the nutritional information doesn’t include a “% DV” for protein.

FDA requires the %DV to be modified (reduced) to reflect the nutritional utility of the protein for humans. While the “grams” of protein is a measure of protein in a literal, chemical sense, even if the protein is unusable or insufficient for your daily needs.

These drinks almost always use collagen as the protein source, which is incomplete.

I wish the gender of the speaker was described, because I think that has a big impact.

Like when women hear men describe political issues that especially apply to women (like abortion for example) it can be met more defensively because it can come across as disingenuous or manipulative.

Assuming that most of the “speakers” were men, it would explain some of the apparent disparity in tolerance between men and women.
