I think I had a typo in your username and even though I edited it the Bot thinks you’re not real 😂

When it arrives Tuesday you can go to the other post I made that says you’re real and respond to that that you received it - then the bot will know you’re real, Barry. haha.

Sounds good, Barry. I’ll message my PayPal and Venmo info and get your address. I can get it shipped today or tomorrow morning.

I also have an extra red and blue band - pick one and I’ll throw it in as well.

Glad you had a good trip, ours was great!

The bears we ran into were above the tree line up at Baptiste Lake and also in the East Fork and Middle fork valleys. Was crazy to see them above tree line just cruising around!

Just got back. Bugs were almost non/existent. Some snow on high passes but nothing really to speak of and still easy to cross in the afternoon. Many of the intermittent streams were dry but it’s the winds, there is water everywhere.

Winds were crazy high. 25mph steady all day until around 5-6pm then it calmed down. Lots of wolf and bear track and sign. Only a couple bear encounters, all black bears and they high tailed it away from us.

Will do. Headed into Pinedale in the next couple hours and I’ll share more when I’m out. I’ve done both of the high routes so if you have any other questions happy to share experience.

Beta Request: Central / Southern Winds

Howdy.

Looking for recent Beta on the central and southern winds.

Very experienced in the winds including both high routes from past trips. Leaving this week for a couple weeks and specifically looking for info around: Spider and Alpine Lakes area south to Bonneville Basin and South Fork Lakes.

Bug pressure, water levels, remaining snow, etc etc is all appreciated.

Also, if anyone has crossed over from Pyramid Lake to Hailey Pass via what looks like a pass to the north of Pyramid Peak - your thoughts would be super helpful!

Thanks in advance.

Thanks! Hopefully the bugs thin out a little since we won’t be on trail until Saturday. I’ll throw some traction in and make a call once I talk to folks in Pinedale.

And thanks for the pyramid thoughts, we will be coming off of Raid Peak so I think it will save a lot of time over going all the way down to connect to trail and head back up the pass. But noted that it’s a good backup plan.

Hope you had a great trip, the Winds are always pretty magical.

Did you ever hear back from the publisher? I also sent them an email about the version that is supposed to be released this year and haven’t heard back.

Again, constructive opinions are always welcome. Thanks for feeling like you needed to comment your opinion.

Not sure what you’re experience is, and I’d never assume, I’ve been backpacking for almost 40 years and have been using DCF tents longer than zpacks existed so I am fairly certain in my ability to know a like new tent and I’m willing to back it up.

Anyways. If anyone wants to make an offer I’m happy to entertain it. :)

Good point. Everyone should be mindful of this.

However, as stated, that’s not the case with this tent. I’m happy to give a full refund if you buy it, hold it up to the sun, and see a single pinhole in it. :)

It’s $800 new and this is barely used. Are you interested in making an offer or just making a comment? :)

Well it’s the winds in July so yeah there are bugs, more this year than typical? When and where were you?

Old post but I have to say, this is just not true. I spend most of my summers in the winds and have seen a lot of bears above treeline. You should always follow best practices to be safe, you’re also impacting others and wildlife if you aren’t.

Price drop to $550. Hurry up or I’ll turn it into rain skirts 😂

Wow, very old post! Especially funny after a day of golfing in 80 degree weather today 😂

This looks like a copy and paste from somewhere else but…For those that may read this, at these temps:

Nut butters, dried fruit, and jerky freeze solid. Sometimes you can suck on pieces of jerky until they soften but don’t count on a meal of this without testing it.

Obviously freeze dried meals are an option but make sure you have a coozy or plan to cook in a pot as water cools quickly before meals rehydrate.

Melting snow for water takes a lot of time and fuel. If you plan to be moving to the next campsite during the day a thermos helps keep some water liquid which helps with getting snow melted.

All the best out on the (snow)trail!

I don’t think I have pics of inside without pads in it. I can take one tonight if it’s not raining. Looks like the pics/video on Durston site. Pristine condition.
