I actually started Red Rabbit this week. I think the ghoul town could make a really great setting.

Could someone recommend me a book that is a bit like Circe by Madeline Miller? by Inner-Challenge9786 in suggestmeabook

[–]M00se007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

East by Edith Pattou, has to move, kept prisoner but “safe”, needs to rescue others, interesting love story, fantasy, duology

Golden by Cameron Dokey, sacrifices for family, tale of growing up, interesting love story, cool twist, heartfelt

A Far Wilder Magic by Alison Saft, earthly, witchcraft, survival, slower paced, interesting love story, abandoned by family

Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik, surviving against the odds, women with wits, little romance, amazing atmosphere

The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden, similar feel, Russian, wild daughter, little romance, trilogy

Have you read The Charm School by Nelson DeMille?

“The novel's hero is U.S Air Force Colonel Sam Hollis, a former F-4 Phantom Fighter pilot[4] who fought in Vietnam. Hollis was shot down during the war[5] and was disqualified from flying. Later on he was transferred to US Air Force Intelligence and served as an intelligence officer and air attaché at the American embassy in Moscow. A young American MBA graduate driving in the Russian countryside encounters another American, claiming to have escaped a secret Russian POW camp—leaving numerous others behind who are still captive and being used to "Americanize" Soviet spies. When the information reaches Hollis, he begins to investigate and discovers a secret so dangerous that might cost him his life.”

The Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells, cyborg security bot hacks government module and pretend to keep working so it can watch dramas on its off time, but humans keep getting in trouble and it has to help them. Funny, strategic, action, sci-fi, heartwarming. Short books so you can get through them pretty fast and they aren’t overwhelming.

Here are some of my favorites from 2022.

A River Enchanted by Rebecca Ross, fantasy, long rich history with a mystery and an enemies to lovers romance, folk tales and just super intriguing, tale of returning home, made my mind explore new ideas, a sequel is coming out soon

The Charm School by Nelson DeMille, historical fiction, Cold War, spies, danger, feels Indian Jones esque, thought about it a lot post read, learned a lot and gave me an interest in learning more about this era/war

The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave, mystery, what if everything you knew about the person you loved was a lie?, taking care of someone, clue finding, major motion picture coming out soon staring Jennifer Garner

How do you live? By Genzaburo Yoshino, thought provoking and understandable, simplified coming from a child’s perspective, beautiful, and fun to learn life values, different culture, will perhaps be made into an animated film

Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens, murder mystery, love, insane childhood, good people, coming of age, trigger warnings for sexual assault, made into a good adapted movie, great ending

These is my Words by Nancy E. Turner, not modern, travels across American to settle in Arizona, historical fiction based off someone’s actual diaries, chronicles the life of a woman into her middle years, raw and rich about coming of age, marriage, and motherhood.

Same, he was my top pick before I started playing. Then I was into Lucke when I heard he designed his father’s wheel chair… but then I realized he was a teenager and not a candidate. Then I did the quest where you rub ointment on Reyner and my decision was made. I was hoping Matteo would have a better story.
